do similar schemes go on in other european countries? this isn't meant to be a thread having a go at countries that do or don't because i honestly have no idea...

I'd expect rich Muslim countries to be high in that list.. I thought it was written in the Quran that a percentage of their income must be given to charity. Or am I thinking of another religion?

I'd expect rich Muslim countries to be high in that list.. I thought it was written in the Quran that a percentage of their income must be given to charity. Or am I thinking of another religion?

The list is OECD nations. The idea that massive economies like India and Brazil have a charity sector less than New Zealand should be absurd to most people.

It is fair it's the actual amount they give which tbh is much more important than the percentage.

the 28 billion given by America is much more useful than the 0.5 billion given by Portugal despite being a smaller percentage of their income.
