Chris Moyles Longest Show

Could they not move him to another slot?

I mean, it just seems that if Moyles is popular why not keep him? Or are the BBC after a shift of direction? 'cause surely Moyles is intelligent enough to understand that he would probably not be as successful without the BBC (re, see Adrian Chiles)
It's part of Radio 1's remit that they target the teen/youth market and Moyles is more popular with people in their 20a and 30s, though I think it's more representative of the way people, particularly younger people get access to music. Because of that Moyles doesn't fit in with their target audience.

he cant go to radio2, thats chris evans.

oh and moyles was apprently offered a lot more money to head up capital when they went national but he said no.

isnt it that they are meant to target 16-25's, yet current average listening age is between 22-35?
Which makes sense given the amount of time he has been on the show, people have joined at the target age and just carried on with him

Trouble his he'd want Johnny Vaughns show. and i very much doubt capital offered him that.

They apaprently wanted him to do the national breakfast show. they know he has more pulling power than vaughan, so would pay the money no doubt.
especially as vaughan is paid more than moyles atm.

Yep, but I think people in their teens are more likely to use the internet to access music now, so they're less likely to actually listen to the radio, so I think Radio 1 are kidding themselves that getting rid of Moyles is suddenly going to give them an influx of new teenage listeners.

If Radio 1 doesnt renew i bet he'll reconsider in that case.

The only reason he said no this time is because he wants to stay at Radio 1 and he is still currently under contract with them.

That is very true

James is crap

Indeed, I find daytime Radio 1 is pretty poor apart from Moyles, annoying DJ's and a bland playlist, though Scott Mills if funny at times... I don't see why they would get rid of Moyles, I remember hearing he had something crazy like 10 million listeners!

Doesn't the speculation about his contract some up each time it's due? The BBC would be pretty mad to drop him, and it wouldn't look so good after the whole money-raising thing either :p.

yeah, mostly by daily mail i find. they seriously dont like him...... yet couldnt stop praising him over this event.

Moyles seems the perfect fit if his audience is 20-30 as they're the most likely to listen to the radio at that time in the morning, on their commute to work. Cant say I know many teenagers that listen to the radio in the morning tbh.

He would never fit into a show that doesn't have a full team around him to bounce off. Even Evans was better on Virgin when he had a team to joke around with.

I think radio 1 just needs to accept the target age they want isn't going to happen because they are getting just the music their way when they want it.

They would be nuts to cut Moyles loose now, there's nothing better to replace him with yet.

I never get why the morning slot is the flagship, If I was a DJ i'd rather have mills slot and sod the early mornings and ruined evenings out :)

I still miss the colin and edith show, they worked so well together.

I think Moyles would be funnier with a different team around him. The days with Carrie and Rachel were better. The record breaking show was better purely because of the different people he had around to create banter. It's like how nights at the pub are funnier with newer mates than with ones you've known for 15 years. :)

Yeah I liked the show a lot better years ago when he had producer Will and some others.

Used to listen to Mark and Lard and Moyles every day after college.

How this guy has managed to present the most important thing on the radio for the last 5 or so years is beyond me, I ddn't relise half the country were braindead, well I did but I atleast hoped OCUK forum members were a bit more with it. Gutted.

He just isn't funny. Thank god his TV career crashed and burned.

Think how many millions of people there are in UK or specifically people that would be good at playing music and talking and you relise we have been stuck with this turd for far too long.
