Dragon Age 2 - Official Thread

Why would you want to skip the quests? They tell a story, seems a bit pointless just rushing through not getting the full benefit.

No you misunderstand what im saying.....I am asking can you step aside from the quests to go and boost your character?

ALSO The game freezes!!! its really annoying me! If I play for over an hour or so it crashes and its ALWAYS during the cut scenes! This MUST be happening to others! Its almost like its the PS3 is overheating....I might be wrong.

Happens on the 360 too but rarely, one per 6-10 hours so far (4 total)

So just got this on xbox and... well i'm undecided. It's prettier, sure, and combat seems more fluid but I don't feel 'in control'. I'm only playing it on hard first time round and my tank seems to a) do absolutely no damage and b) never really attack anyone unless I ask her to, she just stands still looking menacing.

The fact that you can't gear your group is absolutely retarded though. I mean, you pick up so much **** and yet only you can use it? Really stupid idea that one. Meh.

Been playing this now for 16 hours and i think it might be traded in very soon, somthing has happened to it and it has just lost the magic the origins had, it seems over simplified and they have ruined the battle to just a button masher and even though im now level 11 and have some decent weapons it feels as if i havent progressed.

Its not a bad game by any means but the battle system in these sort of games is key and they have taken away whatever it was that da:o had

Yeah something about the combat feels a bit, erm, superficial? I don't really feel I'm in control of combat, I've got all my tactics sorted etc. but it still feels somewhat random.

I'm also breezing through it on hard which is disappointing for a first run through, I wanted to do it on normal first so I could rack it up in later playthroughs but it just wasn't fun.

The gear thing... still ****ing annying. Eurgh.

Just finished, clocking up about 36 hours. Felt very powerful (Mage) by the end of it but it wasn't very hard.

Is the DLC any good?

Yes, the two story dlc are quite good. Legacy is the better of the two though. They fixed the raining men problem in these dlcs which made it much better imo.

Waiting for an ultimate edition type bundle. I loved DA:O and I'm aware this is nothing like it but not sure it's as bad as the flack it got.

After the poor reviews and supposedly poor sales, I would be surprised if there was an ultimate edition tbh. Mass effect 2 never got one afaik.

Its not as bad as some people make out and actually improved a few areas namely a voiced protagonist and the friend/rivalry system. Somewhat dodgy plot, recycled areas and waves of enemies in combat sort of ruined it though. The two dlc fixed these issues for me and I'm now actually looking forward to DA3.

From reading the dev comments, it seems that they have listened to the criticism. Should be decent graphics as well if the rumours of using the battlefield 3 engine are accurate.

Did ME2 have as much DLC for it though? There was a fair whack of it for DA:O and ME2 on PS3 came with DLC iirc.

ME2 had four story dlc, DA2 has two. I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't any more dlc for DA2 but I think there will probably be one more after ME3 hits to tie up the Hawke story since its going to be a new protagonist for 3.

Actually, it would be 3 dlc for DA2 since the exiled prince dlc was free for pre-orders only.

I'll probably pick up the DLC then.

I actually really enjoyed DA2 - much more than DA1. I got to the bit in the Fade or wherever it was with the 5 or so sections and got bored stiff.

It's been good value too - about £1/hr game play!
