ICC ODI World Cup 2011

India played well and the Aussie bowlers(Yes I'm looking at you Mr Tait) let themselves down with the number of extras.

However England could have some very serious problems with Yardy now going home due to Depression, I suspect this will be the end of the line for our poor World cup campaign.

I think that England could do it. But they'd need to be VERY lucky and get Dilshan, Sangakarra and Jayawardene out for small scores. And then their batsmen have to deal with Malinga, Mendis and Murali.

It looks like quarter finals will be:

India v Pakistan
South Africa v Sri Lanka

Please, please please, If by a miracle India gets to the final, please don't let it be against Sri Lanka, we've played them FAR too many times :(

Yardy out with depression and Rashid called in...big blow for England...

Dont know who will win between England and SL...my heart says SL and mind says England....i do like SL though...if Paks get knocked out next week and SL make it to the final...ill be rooting for them for sure.

Surely you are taking the pee? He's crap and wasn't even being picked.

Our main problem is not Yardy's depression, it's the fact that we're not that good. We're not the West Indies, but we're not good.

Wasn't even picked? He has played 3 games and in them has bowled 26 overs, that is almost 9 overs a game...I don't think a "crap" player would have an average of almost 9 overs a game...

He may of not taken many wickets but he was a decent back up spinner to help Swann, he will be missed.

India vs Pakistan well be one hell of a game, shame it's not the final. I'm almost torn between wanting England to win their game, and wanting to see Sri Lanka make the final from that "side" of the draw, as an all-subcontinent final will be amazing.

Plus Murali <3.

I called this one correctly. Congratulations India. Ponting's effort was magnificent, but it's ironic that on the one day he fires, everyone else falls apart.

Our bowlers never looked threatening, and India never looked uncomfortable. Better luck next time, I guess! :)

According to Geoff Boycott he wasn't even going to be picked for the Sri Lanka game?

Knowing someone IRL who suffers with bad depression bouts - its normal for the person in question to 'battle on' for a period of weeks, its likely that Yardy has been suffering for a while which has probably effected his performances, and resulted in him being dropped, which results in more depression etc etc.

Best thing for him is to go and rest up with his family now :)

I'm not surprised India won. What I am surprised is why we continued to carry Cameron White who is a **** player. He may have captained U19s but he will ALWAYS be in the shadow of Clarke. We should have played Smith instead of White anyway.

What is the most surprising thing about the match is that Ponting scored more than 20 runs. His individual performance may have bought him some time but I hope the axe falls soon. I hope the semi is a cracker and really hope Pakistan bring it. I'd love them to win a World Cup.

In short
- Never carry a burden in your team if you can't afford to (White) especially when there's a better option (Smith)
- White will always be a shadow compared to someone like Clarke
- Ponting's time must surely be drawing to a close.

He was never going to be picked for the Sri Lanka game though after Tredwell's performance vs. WI! Tredwell should have played from the start really

Yardy is a very handy player in T20 - he's the sort of bowler you can pick off for 5-6 an over easily enough but if he gets his line/length right he can be very difficult to put away for boundaries. Great in T20, not so great in 50 over cricket.

I've just had a genius idea. If India takes munaf out of the team and brings in pathan...

Means that raina won't be left out. But there's obvious disadvantages. India would only have a lone pace man. And just 3 specialist bowlers, although in yuvi's current form he could easily bowl 10 overs. That means that 10 overs need to be extracted out of raina pathan tendulkar kohli and possibly sehwag if his shoulder heals. The obvious advantage is a monstrous batting lineup, with the tail not starting till no 9, and even then, harbhajan and ashwin can bat
