I have a lot of respect for your cool grandfather! Mine can't even work a TV remote nevermind an iPad!
 
I haven't got an email yet, and my debit card account isn't showing that the money has been taken out but the order appears under the "View Orders", is this ok?
 
I'm going to try a couple of big electrical stores that are getting them in, although I'm no where near as fussed as I was last year
 
My office is pretty much next door to an Apple store so will probably see the queues when I go out for lunch, might try and pop in and take a look.

I would have been at the MK store if it had been on sale at a sensible time, store opening, but I don't fancy having to get there stupidly early and queuing for ages with no guarantee of getting one.

They did didn't they? I thought that the announcement was 25th for pre order online or available in shops.
 
Got my emailed order confirmation:-

Dispatched 15th April 2011
Delivers 26th April 2011

That'll be 5th class postal servcie then...I can wait I suppose, managed without so far, oooh but a shiny new toy. Didnt go for any of the smart covers, ordered some clear plastic shields from Zagg (have had one on my iPhone for 3 years without a scratch), and will probably look for some kind of plastic/rubber shield for the back of the iPad.

I suspect someone will make a back cover that wil be compatible with the apple smart cover.

Well, if it was storing opening I wouldn't have had a chance. :p

I'll see what it is like when I get there, fingers crossed they will have enough... It'll only be a 3-4 hour wait anyway. :o

went to my local one round the corner from work.

Informed that only the bigger stores are getting any launch stock. With that i went back to work and ordered on-line from apple.

With a reported 20,000 units amongst all other non apple retailers across the entire country chances are only the first few people in the queue are going to get one and i can't be bothered with that.

I'll just wait 2-3 weeks and hope it comes sooner.
 
Three Store in Birmingham have seven.

Wouldn't tell me what model though! I may end up waiting a couple of weeks.

It sounds like they expect to sell out completely which is why I've ordered online, I'm happy to wait and for it to come to me rather than run around looking for stock.
