Cryengine 3 Next Generation Game Developement Solution

Not sure why so many people are moaning about this I personally think its brilliant. A top quality game - i've not enjoyed a single player shooter as much as this in a long long time.

Graphics are tbh the best I've ever seen. I've literally been gaping in awe at some parts.

Pace for the set pieces is varied and usually spot on. Also you can make the game suit your style with the tactical information providing multiple solutions to a single situation.

The feel of the whole thing is very good and 'believable', the music score is brilliant and gets you right on edge. I can't remember the last game I've actually wanted to keep playing and playing like this!

In summary this would be the first game probably since cod4 I've give a 10/10 to (atleast for SP).

Aside: anyone else feel a bit sad at Prophet dieing and his video/flashback? :(

As I'm still waiting for mine to be delivered I'm sad that you didnt use a spoiler warning of any sort!

Good to hear some positive stuff about the game however, the nerdy whining was getting out of hand! :)

Sorry my bad - although only a spoiler if you haven't even started playing as its the first thing that happens aside a mini movement tutorial bit! :P

I work in the games industry and i played this on the pc last year when the prompts were still xbox controls even though i was playing on a pc with mouse and keyboard.

All games are made on pc thats what artists and programmers use.

Console games also have to pass microsoft and sony certifications a long way before release date. PC games do not.

Because of this console versions are usually optimised first. I know this to be true for crysis2 as when i played it on pc it had xbox360 controller functions on screen.

Absolutely gutted tbh. Time to get rid of my crossfire set up, pc game development is so obviously completely handicapped by the consoles.
Crysis 2 gives me that sick feeling in the belly, designed and written, from the ground up for consoles. No modding can save this. It is a shame, as it does look good in areas; albeit within the sickeningly restraining boxes of console limitation.

Finished it tonight, overall I was impressed though I did encounter times when I just gave up and went to do something else. Despite this, it was really enjoyable.

I particularly took a liking to the suit itself (ha, my nerdiness shines through here) which was throughly fleshed out by the dev team and truly seemed like the super-suit that everyone made it out to be. Sure, it's a main plot device in this sequel so you'd expect it to be, but it has gone above and beyond that in my opinion.

I think the best description for it is "incredibly cool". :D

There do seem to be some curiosly, suspisious, posts in this thread, singing the praises of this console port.
Any pc fan can be nothing but disppointed

The third party gpu tool has helped it by quite a lot imo, the mouse movement i find feels rather weird though.

I won't say its a console port, considering i've played it on both platforms.

The visual experience is much more vast when playing it on a decent GPU within a PC than that of a Xbox360/PS3.

Most of the people that moan about it have a 6-7 year card probably!

Its not a straight port no it does have some pc optimizations. It could however have many more.

It was just optimized for consoles and then they did what they could with the pc version in the time they had.

The proble s we have had with sli and crossfire indicate to me they didnt QA very well!

anyone else found the "melee attack doesn't work" bug. i was enjoying the game, sure it doesnt have the wow factor crysis 1 did, and i wasnt even put off by the crossfire flickering issue too much but the melee attack randomly stopping working, usually when i die and reload, really irks me and is kind of a game breaker until they fix it. think its only on single player.

Crysis2AdvancedGraphicsOptions doesn't do jack, imho, to move this from being anything but a horribly obvious console port.

Yes, I am getting the melee not working bug aswell; btw, you are renaming Crysis2.exe to bioshock.exe to get rid of flickering and gain 20% better crossfire scaling?

What's this game like compared to Crysis? Not interested in how it looks, I'm only interested in how the game plays because I found the first a chore to play although Warhead was much more fun.

dunno what you whiners are all moaning about to be honest, what exactly equates to a pc game being a "real pc game" these days? does it need a different menu screen just for the pc? half life is a "real pc game" in many gamers eyes because of its release schedule more than its game design, that's an evolved corridor shooter if you boil down its core gameplay right?

would crysis 2 be a better game if every objective was to secure a tropical beach from the korean army?

You'll most likely enjoy it then, it's people who loved Crysis 1 who are most disappointed. It's much more of a straight up action game.
