***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

Has anyone been looking at the locations in the game and comparing them to the real locations in NYC?

Battery Park looks quite different and the Statue of Liberty is considerably closer in the game. The Church at the top of wall street is how I remember it although Wall street itself is considerably wider in the game although there are some recognisable buildings.

Of course you could argue that the game designers are more interested in creating a good game rather than being accurate to the city - and of course it is set in the future too.

Installed Crysis 2 on PC, tried it for 10-20 minutes, couldn't believe how bad the gameplay is and how boring it is, expected so much more, and even disappointed with graphics.

As for homefront, am loving the graphics and gameplay so far.

Just had to post how bad Crysis 2 is, dont waste your money...I'm a hardcore PC gamer and I loved the single player in half life 1, 2, episode 1, episode 2, assasins creed, 1, 2, 3, mass effect 1 & 2, max payne, deux ex, medal of honor series, call of duty series, etc etc even parts of the first crysis game were good, but this game totally sucks...I give it 3/10...the thing is as well, I tried the multiplayer demo before the full game was out, and I had a good time with the multiplayer side of things, and did pretty well online and thought it had good potential, maybe the multiplayer side of it for the full game is actually good, I havent tried it yet, but the single player is just so so bad.

Maybe they put more effort in to multiplayer then singleplayer, I dont know.

10 -20 minutes, because you really experienced all the gameplay in that length of time. Definitely.

Also Homefront which is more or less a clone of CoD and BF mixed has way better gameplay than Crysis which is somewhat more unique, and lets you deal with most firefights differently.

so many moaners and whiners on here ... on my system the game/graphics/gameplay are brilliant ..... however, i uploaded a 1080P Youtube video a few days ago ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92Yxo_-QDEc) and about 7 Youtube users have contacted me asking me how i have an extreme option in the graphics setting. Do the people who are moaning on here about the game have an extreme option?

I agree, never heard so much crap in my life everyone going on about the graphics being crap and the gameplay being bad, sometimes i think pc gamers are living on another planet

They weren't able to be 100% accurate mainly due to needing permission for certain buildings to be in the game, some they got permission for, some they didn't.

Also obviously gameplay played a factor in it as you said.

The one thing i found odd was the Statue of Liberty still has its Head intact when you see it across the water, but as we seen in the trailers later in the game the head is in part of the town. Maybe theres a cutscene that shows you how this happens or something, but so far it looks like an oversight.

My GF got this game, she meets all the min spec on her laptop ( 512mb GFX card dedicated, ATI Radeon HD 4570 or something like that ), 4 GIG ram, Intel Core Duo 2ghz. Have tried running it on 800x600 and using the config tool that guy made and online she is lucky if she gets more than 5FPS. Any idea why it's running so bad and anything we can do? Bit stumped tbh as it should run better than that :/

..just walk towards your nearest wall and hit your head against it .. maybe do this 5/6 times then have another look at your post. If it hasn't registered then just repeat what i've just said.

Bit unsure what you mean by the above post. If it's a dig surely running something at all low, with everything turned off when you meet the minimum specs should run better than 5FPS? I've played plenty of games at below/meeting system specs and it ran better than this.

but your laptops pretty low spec .. why would you buy Crysis 2 to play it at 800 x 600?

I agree it's low spec, just assumed meeting min spec would be fine as it has been in the past.

Like I said it's for the GF not everyone wants to run everything at super high graphics or res (like myself), she is rather happy just playing it and shooting stuff regardless of graphics. 1 player is fine, she can run that at 1024x768 (or what ever setting it is) and it is 20+ FPS easy (that's with everything on high also).

but a minute ago you said you got 5fps

Just made it to semperfi or die level and so far i'm thoroughly enjoying it, graphics are really good on extreme, only annoying things so far is sometimes when you die and come back melee or stealth kills don't work and you have to restart the game, the sound is really weird some parts are really quiet then the volume suddenly gets loud, found myself fiddling with the volume controls quite a lot. Other than that i think it's great seems to continue the story really well too.

And now some 1920x1080 screenshots on Extreme setting(uploaded to my skydrive account uncompressed)

gave up on MP.flickering with xfire is doing my nut in,I'm bad enough without the disadvantage of a flickering skyline or any other bright parts.
I quite like the SP though and agree with a previous poster that Homefront is ok,MP sucks a bit but I take games as a bit of fun,no more,no less and if I enjoy myself for a few hours that's all I am looking for,and happy if it looks good too.

Don't take things too seriously guys, they are just games after all.

Am i right in saying this game is DX9 only? But that DX10/11 will be implemented through a patch in the future? I mean i played the first 2 games. And enjoyed them enough (considering they were £3 each from the EA online store) Was thinking of getting this too But if DX10/11 is going to be added at a later date id rather just wait and play it through in all its glory.

to be honest i'm only getting mid 40's in FPS with my overclocked 5850 drops to low 30's sometimes. If this were DX10/11 i have no doubt that it would have crippled my rig. I keep seeing everyone moaning they want DX11 but tbh i can't even see anyone being able to run it unless your on xfire 6970's or the Sli equivalent

I know what you mean...

I almost cancelled my GTA 4 preorder when I found out the bench layout in Central Park wasn't the same as in real life.

On top of that Rockstar made the Empire States building too small and Brooklyn Bridge ever so slightly too long.

And don't get me started on Chinatown. :p

Back OT, my game still hasn't arrived but I'm not sweating it just yet because Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is keeping me entertained for now.

Runs amazing on my 2 480s i cant actually see dx11 bringing any major visual differences
