***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

Got into this yesterday. Think it seems ok so far. Graphics are decent and gameplay is pretty much fps of the moment but nice to play a game that doesnt have a modern war theme. got this for 16 quid so pretty happy with it :D

Only got it this morning as Steam was crawling downloading this. I swear getting this the naughty way would've been quicker. Anyway, all installed and played a couple of hours. Really enjoying it. The indoor/close corridor parts feels and plays exactly like Fear 1/2 whilst the outdoor playing is a bit more Crytek. Graphics aint Crysis 1 but it more than holds its own. Can't help but feel a bit cheated with no DX11 goodness but that's neither here nor there.

Haven't tried online yet but for the moment the single player gets a solid 8/10. Not too impressed with the AI as they get up to stupid things sometimes. I pushed a car off a building, landed between them and nobody batted an eyelid. Also picked off a baddie while his mate next to him just kept walking ... straight into my second bullet. So no, the touted AI aint all that.

I would love to know the difference (in tech talk) between each graphic mode. Iv tried them all and don't see much difference between them, its minor changes at best with a fps hit in performance.

It's not minor do it yourself

screenshot high mode then extreme mode and circle all the differences when i did it on 3 different scenes i just had screenshots full of circles. there is a lot of changes in the minor detail but to me that makes a big difference as it makes things seem more realistic.

one example look at a archway in high mode then again on extreme the difference is night and day

I did that man, and couldn't really tell much difference. So you are saying that you only see it in selective scenery?

My point is that the game still looks awesome on the lowest setting (Gamer) so i wanted to know what i am missing out from the other modes. But if its selective scenery where you can only tell the difference between each modes then im not that bothered about it. Ill just carry on enjoying this awesome game.

Theres a possibility that a dx11 patch might be coming tomorrow:

German site

As a user of the fan site Crysis-HQ has now been found, relying on his statements to an article by a German website, tomorrow a DX11 update for Crysis 2 will be made available. That article requires the responsible editor assumes that it is officially the "28.3. would be another patch, which will not only bring with it DirectX 11, but also integrates an advanced graphics menu later. Whether this information directly from Crytek or EA come, is not yet known. We will continue to hold on this subject to date.

Doubt it'll effect graphics at all, they'll more than likely just use some of the DX11 more efficient render methods to gain a few extra FPS. If that.

Probably, in the same way that Dx10 lowered the fps in Crysis.

If they add tessellation support then definately.

It'll probably be the same patch as the 64-bit version of Far Cry - Add a couple of flies here and there lol.

Dissapointed XFire isn't working - One 5850 gives me about 40FPS (I can notice stuttering though here and there) - enabling Xfire gives me 80FPS! - but the stupid bloom effect / flickering kills it :(

beginning to regret buying this game

Seems the artists are fans of FUUUUU comics :D
