Finally gonna liquid cool my TJ07-advice needed

Any idea on what paint i should use?

Never really had to spray anything, so unfortunately I'm not the best person to ask about paints and technique for spraying etc.

Having said that I'd imagine that as long as you are spraying onto bare metal then the paint can't react with what is already on there, as such the type of paint shouldn't be too important, you've just got to find a colour you like.

How much did it cost for most of you to liquid cool a tj07 with a 240&480?
I just need a rough idea.

taken from the last x58 revision before a lot of it was removed for my sandybridge rebuild.

that doesnt include parts swapped out or any cable braiding, but this is a rough idea. no modded or custom parts included in the list to keep it simple.

total overkill and focussed on aesthetics but it can get like that.

you dont need to go to that extreme, but spending money on the right stuff is important.

Well there is no reason you can't spray it (that I can see anyway), it will just require some practice so that you don't end up with paint dribbles etc.

i have sprayed a few cases. i sprayed my tj07 myself but i must admit, the various upgrades have resulted in a few scratches that wouldnt happen if i had got it powdercoated.

Any idea on what paint i should use?

go for powdercoat if you can afford it.
if not i used some stuff readily available at B&Q, just make sure you do a good undercoat and then build up the top layer slowly in a dust free environment.

WOW!
im pretty scared i may get a bit OCD and end up spending £1000s!
What sort of wattage should i be looking at for the fan controller as i want a touchscreen just for the wow factor.
Have you git any of the x58 stuff that you plan to sell by any chance?

i keep watercooling stuff. unless it is chipset/gpu specific there is no point selling as resale value is low and i will use it in future builds.

i would avoid a touch screen fan controller and go for function over looks.
if i had to have a fan controller with a screen it would be an Aquaero 5.
but they are very expensive. why not consider a lamptron FC5?

go for the sentry if you want, but like i say, it feels cheap and doesnt really offer much in functionallity.

So would you be interested to sell you CPU block at all? Ill have anither look at all the controllers and decide. Would it be possible to have two controllers working together at all?

no - and no discussion of selling outside of mm

my block is still on my cpu. why would i get rid of that?

This what i am now going fro:

I am stuck on the pump and top. I was having a look and just got completely confused. I want to liquid cool my HDD as it is driving me mad with all the noise and heat. My computer running so hot was a relief in the winter but is now really really bad :(
As usual ANY input would be greatly appreciated. Especially if it's recommending a pump and top :D

If you're looking for a good, but flashy fan controller, you need to look at the Lamptron Touch. 30W per channel, 6 channels, good touch screen. Much better than the Sentry which will struggle if you put even 'normal' high RPM fans on... (3W per channel or something?)

Oh yes, nearly forgot about the fan controller.
Thinking of THIS one ATM. 30w per channel.

Forget the fluid and get some mayhems pure water and a silver coil.
The tubing cutter you have is rubbish don't bother, buy some decent scissors.
The HDD cooler isn't worth it save yourself some money, it wont make it less noisy.

So are there any HDD blocks worth going for?
I think i'll get a better one/scissors.

Is there not a single fluid that's good? I really wanted UV green. Are there any particular fluids that I should steer clear off/look at? Should I get additive and use distilled water instead?

Still looking for a pump. Any recommendations?

Really just used deionised/distilled water and a silver coil...use coloured tubing if you want to add colour.
Ive never used the Phobya liquid you have stated but for that price you could get your self 10 litres of Mayhems pure and a silver coil.
For the amount of components you are cooling i would go for either the Laing DDC ultra or D5, im currently using a EK pump and although it is silent it looks like it is starting to struggle in my little case.

Dangerden D5?
Is Laing a brand? I've seen loads and loads of Laing pumps so far.
ATM, I think I will go for 1/2 ID annd use barbs to save myself money. I'll get two SSD's and when I have more money I will add better fans and maybe compressional fittings

Thinking of THIS pump.
What are the thread sizes as I always see G1/4.
I think this pump already has 1/2 barb fittings, does this mean i can just put the tube on it?

I managed to find one, which is still in stock (it's an Alphacool NexXxos NVXP-G8 block, so should be easy to find), but it's £55. I reckon you could probably give them a call and haggle it down though, as no-one will buy it at that price.
