ICC ODI World Cup 2011

How can any cricket fan not be fussed about the cricket world cup final? :\

Like i said i had better things to do with my time than watch the WC cricket final...i am a cricket fan but not to the extent that i have to watch every single game...saying that i did watch all the group games and knockout games during the WC...the joys having a sky sports sub in my office but sadly i ended up missing out on the final.

Is it a crime now to not watch the WC final??...much like its a crime to not support England???:p

Because England aren't playing ;) :o

Nope nothing to do with that as im not an england fan myself...so even if england were playing, i still wouldnt have watched it unless i had nothing better to do with my time.

Oh don't worry mate, I know you're a Pak fan ;)

I wasn't actually referring to you. I was answering Sigma's question as to how a cricket fan might not care about the world cup final :p

Are any of you going to be following the IPL Series?

I'll watch it here and there i suppose....Paks have got a series coming up with the WI's on the 18th of this month, a few tests, 20/20's and ODI's so ill be paying close attention to that probably....Afridi has asked for a rest from the tour...will be interesting to see if he gets his wish.

That's fair enough that you weren't able to watch it but by comparing to just "another game" emphasises my point.

I'm not saying it's a crime to miss it I'm just rather surprised that you're not bothered about the significance of the world cup final just because Pakistan were not in it.

I just find it a bit odd because I'm the sort of person who will watch most teams and sports if it's a significant match with some top quality action. :) Each to their own I guess.

Kinda like the Fifa World Cup, England don't get far but it's great to watch all the games nevertheless :D

It was a great game of cricket and definately worthy of a WC Final, both teams played very well and the 2 best teams were in the final. All in all I think the WC was very good this year, some quite memorable moments, the only negative thing I think is the fact it dragged a bit during the group stages.

I would prefer to keep all the 'lower' teams in the tournament, but I'd make it 2 games a day all through the group stages. You could easily make the whole tournament a good week shorter at least.

They're discussing team numbers at the moment, as it was a bit too long!

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Team of the Tournament (in batting order):

  • Sachin Tendulkar (India)
  • Tillakaratne Dilshan (Sri Lanka)
  • Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka, capt &wk)
  • Mahela Jayawardena (Sri Lanka)
  • AB de Villiers (South Africa)
  • Yuvraj Singh (India)
  • Shane Watson (Australia)
  • Shahid Afridi (Pakistan)
  • Dale Steyn (South Africa)
  • Zaheer Khan (India)
  • Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri Lanka)
  • 12th man: Tim Southee (New Zealand)

Tbh the associate teams should have their own WC just before the proper one starts and have the teams that get to the semi final and the final make it into the proper WC imho...found that a lot of the lower end teams were there to make up the numbers and some of them got a right royal spanking which was quite embarrassing to watch really.

But definitely a better Wc this time than the last one, which i thought was a complete shambles from start to finish.

So the next WC is just 10 teams and so the Irish won't be there. What a joke. The fastest world cup hundred is by an Irishman and they won't be there. Madness.

Aye, first they rig the groups so that early upsets do nothing to stop the big teams getting through, and then they just drop the minnows altogether, to avoid any difficulties at all.

More important to line everyone's pocket than make a good spectacle.

Trott has to be in there, no way you can leave him out!

Anyway, peoples take on the new WC format for the next one?
Ireland are fuming!
Think 12 would be better, allow 2 of the 'minnows' to qualify .. let them play in some pre-WC tourney with eachother or something, top 2 go into the WC

Something like that would be great.
