**CRAZY SSD MADNESS DEAL: LESS THAN £1 per Gigabyte Finally on OCZ SSD!**

Hi there

These should be here today/tomorrow, so be sure to get your orders in, a couple of lines have already nearly sold out. :)

I ordered the Agiltiy 60gb. Never had an SSD so hopefully this will be a nice boost as my pc takes ages to load into windows..

my 120 gb agility will be here 12 :D, cant w8. backed up everything up from my OS harddrive to my other drives, so all i have to do is plug it in install windows, drivers, and so on then my steam games.
Never had SSD so i am hoping it will be a nice boost to my system!.

Mine has arrived! :D

A quick word of warning to people, my 60GB agility didn't come with a 2.5" to 3.5" adaptor. I didn't need one but I just thought I'd let people know just in case you were expecting one. I suspect this is another reason for the vertex's higher price.

Post back once its up and running. Would love to have some insight on how good they are

I'm just setting up a fresh install of windows 7 now :), I'll post up some benchmarks in a bit if you're interested?

In real terms though the performance boost feels incredible! It's in a fairly underpowered laptop (asus UL30A) and it just feels so much more responsive than its old 5,400rpm hard drive.

I'm very impressed so far :)

Yeah be interested to see your benchmarks. I was more interested from a desktop performance point of view, however I do have an Asus UL30A so be still good to see :)

Sure :)

Not the most useful thing in the world but people seem to like their scores :p.

If you're interested in any other benchmark I'm happy to run it.

As for real life perspective. After using it for a bit it's obvious that the cpu is bottlenecking the ssd, which is a shame. A couple of times I've found that whilst I'm multitasking the cpu is maxed and the hard drive light is barely blinking :p.

It is significantly faster during normal desktop use though and bootup times are much better too, so I certainly don't regret buying it :). It's also absolutely silent which is awesome! I've yet to see if it's made much of a change to battery life.

edit: I decided to compare boot times to my vertex 2 in my desktop (Althon II x4 620, 4gb ram etc). Surprisingly my laptop got to the login screen first ! Benchmarking my vertex 2 again it looks like the write performance has dropped off for whatever reason. I can't say I'm too bothered, it's more than fast enough for me.

Received my Agility today. Initially my impressions were good; Windows 7 installed quickly and I've never seen my laptop boot so fast before.

Then came the problems, however. Mid-way through installing some applications the laptop froze and then bluescreen/rebooted. The system could then not find the drive without turning the laptop off/back on again. I've since tried the drive checker in the laptop BIOS and checkdisk in Windows and it's not looking good for the drive, every test I've run either fails or locks the system up :(

Firmware already seems to be on the latest (v1.6), any ideas on what could be happening or is the general feeling that it's DOA? :(

Thanks for that :) That still looks like it would be a massive improvement over the standard hard drive. Any increase on the already impressive battery life?

The battery is at 100% so I'll just run it under normal usage for a bit and see how it goes :).

At the moment windows is predicting 8 hours on the 'Quiet office' setting, which is a few hours short of the usual, but I've found that the prediction is always a fair bit off after a bootup. I can't see it being less anyway :p, but possibly not much of an improvement.

Just installed my 60gb OCZ and my god what a difference. It boots windows so quick now its crazy. Really can understand why people say this is the best upgrade for a Pc..

Ditto.

Just installed mine too. Windows 7 installed in probably around 8 - 10 minutes... when windows loads it's near enough ready to go within 5 seconds. General performance wise, everything is a lot more snappier. Good purchase :)
