The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

Awesome, everywhere i look now seems to be out of stock at £90 but plenty of places have it for £110+:(

bought mine from prepaymania.. but they are out of stock now.. i swear i have read somewhere that orange will discount? or increase the price of SF because too many people buy it-open the box-unlock it and never use orange payasyougo sim.. so companies like argos don't get any profits from the phones they sell unless the SIM gets activated/registered

so i would not be surprised if only orange UK will have it in stock soon..

Go to the market and download SMS backup and restore. It simply backs up and restores all your SMS messages into their threads. Useful when going from one ROM to another.

Thanks for the tip but I couldn't actually open any applications apart from settings it seemed. Otherwise I would have used SMS Backup+ to my gmail.

Hello All

Not been in here a while...I was just wondering what ROMS people are all running? I currently have the 'recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.9-modaco-r2-blade'...Old I know but its worked since I first put it on there and I haven't bothered changing it since...

So I was wondering what would be a good 'upgrade'...? I quite like how mine is set out at the moment so don't really want to change much from that...

Thanks in advance :)

EDIT: going by some previous replies and looking over on Modaco the Swedish Spring RLS5 may be a god one to have? http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blade-roms-rom-customisation/334849/rom-froyo-swedish-spring-rls5-2011-04-19-oled-tft-gen1-gen2/

I'm running CM7 RC4 at the minute, GEN1 or whatever. Haven't bothered upgrading or changing to GEN2, couldn't be bothered and I'm thinking of selling my SF anyway.

What is the layout like on it? I like the way my home screen is at the moment with the extra buttons along the bottom etc...Any screenies around?

Also, what are the general steps before applying a new ROM? Shall I just put the new ROM onto my SD card and do the usual...Or will I need to backup things like games / contacts in order for them to be 'installed' onto the new ROM?

my SF running SS still cuts the wireless off after a certain period even when its set to never.....

Any ideas.??

mines also does this. extremely annoying.

Market - Blade wifi fix

If you want to keep wifi on, you need this https://market.android.com/details?id=opotech.advancedwifilockfree

Blade wifi fix isn't really required in most of the custom roms, but advanced wifi lock is if you want wifi to stay on.

Thanks :)

Just need a new SD card now really =/ sadly no funds to do so...

If I flash a new ROM onto the phone I presume I have to install games etc again?

Yeah its best to do a factory reset, install ROM and Wipe then just install and setup again.

If you are using the same ROM just an updated version you can just install over the top.

Hello

No sadly it will be a different type of ROM, so I'll have to back up what I need to...BAH!!!

I never bother setting up all my apps and games, it would take me far to long. Instead I bought Titanium pro and use that to back up ONLY my apps and data. Then even if I go from a 2.2 to a 2.3 ROM and or change the partition layout I know that I can restore the apps and data successfully and I have never had an issue in doing so. I have a backup and restore utility for my Angry Birds saved games and then apply that.
It is not recommended to do the same with any system data etc with Titanium.

Ive been looking at android phones as a present for the mrs next phone as she wants pay and go or simplicity ive been looking at the htc wildfire which is 130

if you used a previous version of SS, then it will just go over that, all applications and data will be the same, i just wiped Cache.

After several charges, battery life is exceptional :)
