Heheh,

Harry Redknapp has revealed that he considered signing Luis Suarez in January but opted against making a bid after being told by scouts that the Uruguayan was not up to the grade.

Might want to think about hiring some new scouts in the summer Harry. :)

Actually Arry said Spurs didn't go for Suarez because he thought in a positional sense he was too similar to VDV

That makes sense. As good as VDV has been as a player he has been counterproductive to Spurs in many ways. He can only play in one position and that means only one striker playing. Its no coincidence that since the arrival of VDV the Spurs strikers have become as successful as David Blunkett in a game of I-Spy.

Suarez would have been a great buy for almost any top European side. Any scout / manager who says different is being daft :p

I'd actually jizz if Lukaku came to the Premier League. FM Legend and Hero :D

Skip, you think Spurs will hold on to Woodgate / King in the summer? Can't help but think the wages could be used better then two crocks.

Woodgate will be receiving, or being offered a pay-as-you-play deal. Ledley is due to return to the team tomorrow at Anfield.

You think he'll accept it?

Ledley not being flogged in the summer?

I think Ledley is a great centre back, but he's injured too often :(

It was also said that they didnt go for Suarez as they didnt think he could perform as a striker, which is ironic as he has scored the same number of league goals in his games as some of the spurs strikers have in the entire season.

It's just crossed my mind that Sneijder would basically be a replacement for Scholes and Giggs. Might be smart business.

I don see how he fits TBH.

I see Rooney being awesome as the no.10 dropping off Hernandez. Thats how Rooney got his mojo back this season.

Sneijder is awesome at filling the space that Rooney fills dropping back from up front. He does it coming forward, Rooney does it by dropping back. Its the same space though.

I dont see Sneijder as a Utd signing though. Young and Rodwell are more in keeping with the demographic we go for. Unless however De Rossi's contract issues makes him very cheap of course.

If we sign Rodwell and Young I'd be very disappointed, both would be a total waste of whatever cash we have. I'd take De Rossi though for less than 10 million, we could do with someone like him (read: mean *******) in our midfield.

If you look at the signings we tend to make (ie SAF signings) we wont touch De Rossi.

We will spend a summer bitching about how Rodwell and Young smack of a lack of ambition and were too much money. We will then win the league again and wonder what the fuss was about (Ask Valencia and the price we paid for him, if he doesnt confirm it as Carrick whom we bought after selling RVN).

I'd like to think Spurs would keep them both on in coaching roles. That depends on them wanting to continue playing but I'm sure keeping them on a player / coach role would be a good move.
