Ah haa. I think I have found the root cause of Ichabod Cranes bent rear. Intense Cycles are made out of something called aloominum

Stupid americans, they love made in america stuff even when most of it is rubbish. Nothing wrong with having stuff made in asia, cheaper, better made mostly.

Santa Cruz is kind of like how we do things at our place, except we use malta to build most things and we configure the units for where there going and to customers specs.

You could say the same thing about Orange and Hope to name but a few.

I'm all for buying as local to reduce your carbon footprint and to support local business. If you don't use it you'll lose it!

I need some help doing bunnyhops.

I can grasp the start of them, push down, compress the front shock, then spring upwards and pull the bars up to bring the front wheel up. I can manage this and pull the front wheel up quite high.

Then watching videos it says to push forwards and try to pull with your feet. This is currently doing nothing for me. Think I managed once to get the rear wheel off the ground (on the flat) going at a slowish speed on tarmac.

To do a bunnyhop you move forward, bend your arms, then move backwards straightening your arms while moving your weight backwards pushing with your feet. Then move forward to lift the back. It's all about body movement. Suspension doesn't come into it. :)

I disagree, on bikes with suspension you have to work with the suspensions' rebound to aid in lift, if not the act of shifting your weight is lost in the suspension compression.

I used to ride a rigid trials bike and could bunny hop just fine, moving on to a full sus bike was a huge change. Other than that weescott's description is spot on in my opinion :D

You should be able to 'unweight' the rear end of the bike first - do this by rolling along on the flat, dip your toes slightly and put pressure on them all whilst slightly pushing your weight forward and pushing on the bars, this is the movement you make once the front end of the bike is just at full lift (when bunnyhopping).

Finally to get as much height as possible 'tuck' your legs underneath you and get your ass behind the saddle slightly so the back end of the bike can raise up as high as possible.

Found a good video showing it better than I discribed it:

Warning: Doddy from MBUK and his incredibly annoying voice.

Andelusion: You were doing it all wrong :p

Ah right, that helps with the feet technique.

Will try that when I can walk again, my knee was a little worse than I thought. Spent all yesterday sat down and could hobble about today. :o

1:20 "Push down and lunge up"

No he doesn't mention it in his description but in nearly every example you can clearly see him preloading his suspension.

The fact he's running very short travel forks will also have something to do with the fact it's not as necessary for him. On bikes with more suspension travel preloading is going to be even more important.

Anyway, it works for me :)

I learned the other year on my Heckler with 160mm forks. I don't compress them any more than my body weight allows. It's all about technique. ;)

*disclaimer.....I have no good technique!

Opinions on this wheel anyone:

Mavic Crosstrail

I can get a hardly used rear one for 110 inc a 160mm rotor from a nice chap on Singletrack.
To be honest I'm just about to pay him for it as it seems like an excellent deal!
Yes, I know thats a front one in the link :)

I can bunnyhop, but I'd like to hop much higher than I do.
I find my Tracer really hard to hop and manual for that matter, as the front end is super low at the moment. Still need to get some 38mm rise Renthal bars, should make it easier.

Bunny hopping is a great skill - being able to pre-jump obstacles and so forth, but I find it much more fun to pop-off roots/rocks etc.

Thats what I want it for, so I can get some small jumps when I am riding locally, otherwise I need a lot of speed before I can get the back wheel off the ground!

Doesn't look like ill be riding tonight, torrential rain and high wind now!

Pathetic stuff from CRC

Emailed them today to check why my order from Thursday at 1pm is still "processing".

Response from their customer service email department below

Hi,

Thanks for your email.

Apologies for the delay you received on your order, we had an unprecedented number of orders last week, and as a result we were not hitting the high targets we set for ourselves concerning same day dispatch.

We do not offer discount when this happens, but if you would like to return your order to us for a refund we would reimburse your standard postage costs.

Thanks,

Ged

If they had even BOTHERED to check the order number they would have seen that it was still showing as processing at 5pm on Monday, and clearly hasn't been dispatched or received by me.

Distinctly un-impressed with my 1st order from CRC. Last time I will be using them.

+1 for the same wording of email a few months back..In saying that im getting some strange stuff going on with my Wiggle order, last night Charge spoons came in stock, so i ordered a plain black one, at 2am lol, now come this afternoon the black charge spoons now say Item Discontinued, very odd indeed, but Brushed black is now instock, again odd, and my order still hasnt been processed despite the so called "priority dispatch".

That's a bit of a rash decision just because of 1 customer service agent gave out a generic email reply.

it maybe a rash decision, however that is the 3rd email (previous 2 were not answered), phoneline is constantly engaged or no answer whilst trying to call today.

Why claim "same day dispatch" when 3 days later nothing has changed.

A simple email update or something would have sufficed but spending £100 with a company who can't be arsed to reply, answer the phone or even update my account when all the items are in stock doesn't impress me personally.

I'm happy to accept that at times postage, busy periods etc get in the way of offering the service a company implies it can provide but 5 days (or 3 working days) after an order is placed and no updates is pretty poor in my book.
