Chaps - quick question re: tyre pressures. Just got back from a lap of Cannock, got some new 2.25" Nobby Nics which I was running at 30psi, but they weren't filling me with confidence over the loose stuff.

Am I running them too hard? The course was pretty much dry, a few puddles and the odd spot of mud but it's mostly hard & dry with some loose stuff in the corners. I almost came unstuck in a few of the corners and by the end I was picking my way along as it felt like I could've hit the deck at any point. This could be down to lack of skill and practise, but something doesn't feel quite right.

Yeah I went the other day ,first time out with my new nobby nics.

Couldn't really enjoy it as you say I was picking my way round and just waiting to slide out.

Re : Cannock, You lot need to man up, I get round fine with a semi slick on the rear (Furious Fred) and a Race King on the front :) :)

It's down to experience and to an extent riding style and rider weight too.

One of my pals rides with semi slick (read worn down) 1.8" Panaracer Fire XC Pro's on some pretty narly stuff (red/black).

Heck, I rode with a guy that did full on downhill on slicks.

Well I'm 15 stone and have been out of the saddle for 8yrs until recently so this might have something to do with it! I had a lot more confidence when I was younger and rode every weekend, I seem to be a lot less willing to just throw myself into/at/down stuff these days :o.

That's life! I am nowhere near as fit as I used to be and have a few "ailments" that limit me a bit. The difference now is I know how to ride stuff as opposed to just throwing myself into things. So after I walk a section I think, aye, I should have taken that line and done this then that. :o

I guess I just need to ride, then ride some more, it'll come back to me eventually. Thankfully I'm going slow enough at the moment to be able to pick decent enough lines!

On another subject, what's the best way to clean white grips?

Done the ChainReaction Llandovery Enduro today. Done the 50km and boy did it hurt! Was a good day and was real muddy! Managed to do it in 3hours 20mins so real happy with that :)
