Your status?

Just burn the forum with fire, then nuke it from orbit and put a pancake on it.... Only way to be sure! :p

On topic: I have been helped by people on this forum and I have never once looked at how many posts they have made and decided, based on that, if their answer was correct or not. But it seems like you did/do, OP.

But, thinking about it.. surely someone with less posts would be "less believed" (for use of some better words) than someone who has a crap load of posts you can trawl through to check out if they are legit or not?

And normally when someone does post some bull there is always people happy to say how wrong they are.

I can't stand rep systems... too time consuming for something i never take advantage of anyway.

How is something you don't use time consuming?

To stop people abusing it could you set limits say only thanking one person a max of twice a week and only a max of 2 thanks per day, or something along those lines?

wouldn't be enough to thank people who give you advice or those who consistently give advice.

I think you're placing way to much importance on a title and a picture. It's not implying any sort of recognition or status other than post count, so why pretend it is and feel all hurt that you can't 'move up the ranks' as quick as you want? If you're genuinely helpful you'll build up a reputation for yourself anyway - not sure why you feel you need special recognition for that. If you dont want to help people for 'free' you dont have to. Forum's I've been on with reputation or thanks systems just seem to encourage sad popularity contests, 'us and them' attitudes with groups of 'elites' who think they own the place, etc, etc.

But then I'm an old git :) Dont even see the point of the post count - I dont count the number of sentences I speak down the pub. And dont get me started on collecting 'friends' and 'liking' things - aaarrghghhh!

People are pretty quick on shooting down any bad advice given, you also see some great advice from new comers

I think this forum has matured too much to introduce a thank system now

I didn't mean to open a can of worms :( I just think the system is flawed. The Mods know exactly what im on about so i'll shut up now.

Indeed, ive just checked our own forums (of which I run) and its an option there as well. Seems its always been there leaving me to conclude that I'm an idiot :)

I have no idea how people manage to get a PC like some in this very thread, you simply can't have that much meaningful to say on a daily basis! To dedicate yourself to a forum so much is....bonkers. A thanks system would easily feed forum-egos and create issues too.

Yeah, a thank system would be Nepotism City. Anyway, isn't OP talking about the Man of Honour system, which is already implemented?
