Samsung SA 950

I'd pre-order one but being across the pond, this price in Pounds is almost the release price amount in Dollars!

They're bound to come down in price, just wait, see what the reviews are like, put a bit of money to the side, you never know, something better might come along too :D

i knew the SA950 was not going to be cheap but thats not good,

can someone answer me this question because i am still a bit confused,

i was mainly interested in the monitor because it is a standalone 3D monitor i.e not nvidia

because i have two 6870's in CF! i want the creen for playing games in 3D but also watching movies n u tube clips etc in 3d,

so can i do this, or am i still going to have to go the Nvidia route, and get a GTX570 or somit to benefit from this screen

27" 120Hz TN panel that's no big deal, you can pick up 120Hz 23" monitors for well under 300 notes. Sorry but an extra 4 inches does not make a 120Hz 1080p TN panel good value at £600.

That extra 4 inches makes a big difference. Ask your wife. zing! Seriously though, my current monitor is 24" 1920x1200, getting this monitor, it will be the same height, but wider, a lower res, granted, but I tried a 16:9 24" monitor and it was just too small.

I don't get what the big deal is with the price. It's exactly what I was expecting at launch and I'm perfectly happy to pay it. If the screen is good and the input lag is low, I'll be more than happy.

If it's not for you then go buy something else :D I'll be perfectly able to talk myself out of buying it if it turns out to be not what I want.

I think your right, i can't see myself parting with that sort of money for it, i already have the asus and paid £250, i need another monitor, but which one. I know i want a higher res, better panel so i might be more interested in the sa850. The stand on the 950 i dislike.

"raised eyebrow at clippa"

If you already have a 120hz monitor for gaming and you're looking for a secondary monitor for desktop, photo editing, whatever, then yeah, this isn't for you :D A big, high res with an ips panel or something, as you say, the 850 for example.
People know what they want and what they're looking for, there's no reason to come into a thread like this and say "I'm not paying 600 sheets for that! It's not what I want at all. It's got a TN panel and it's only 1080p" :D

I was interested in the 950 until I seen the price, so now I have decided to go with Hazro HZ27WC which at under 400 notes is a bargain for a 27" S-IPS 2560x1440 screen, I can live without the 120Hz for now.

Please help.. ( apologies if this a noobie question )

I've been following the SA950 for quite some time now and before i preorder can somebody pls help

I currently have a PC with a Radeon 6950 so it has a display port.. Therefore i assume that i can hook that up to the SA950 via displayport and enjoy 2D to 3D at 1080p and 120hz?

I also have a PS3 and was wondering would it be excactly the same.. hook it up via HDMI and enjoy Blu Rays and games converted to 3d at 1080p. 120hz

If this is not the case can someone let me know please..

Many thanks guys!!

HDMI is limited in bandwidth to 60Hz at 1080p or 120Hz at a lower resolution (720p). That is why there has been such a fuss on this thread and elsewhere about the lack of DVI port on the SA750 series - as only modern ATI GPUs make widespread use of DisplayPort. Further to this the PS3 lacks the horsepower to play games at a framerate anywhere near the 120fps needed for 120Hz to provide worthwhile advantages. Similarly, films are commonly recorded at much lower framerates so there is really no advantage to 120Hz capability when it comes to movies or console gaming.

Thanks PCM2.. so in a nut shell with the PS3 it doesnt really matter..?

Anyways i've been brave and naughty and just pre ordered the S27A950D.. Just got engaged and seeing as the Mrs got a lovely engagement ring i think i deserve to treat myself.. ( besides it'll be last buy for a long long time )

Anyone else pre ordered?
