55 - 60 PSI? on MTB tryres? - if so then theres the problem.

The current flat was on 45 and the others were lower than that.

I don't know if I've got the weight-shift right, I can only assume that I haven't.

No, I'm not staying seated, I'm stood up leaning foward taking my weight away from the back wheel.

Why not use the dropped kerbs instead? No more punctures.

learn to hop the bike off the ground.

Hi can anyone recommend a decent mountain bike for road use but occasional gravel tracks. bumping up curbs etc so not a proper road bike.

No, not really.

I paid £150 for mine 3 years ago in new condition and its probably still worth about that now

No, it won't be.

so say a budget of double that? Any brands I should really look out for or shall I just go for 2010 model Hardrock disc but with bigger sized frame?

In that price range I would look at a Specialized Hardrock, as the frame is good quality. Try get some skinny tyres on there if it has be be used on the road.

Nix mate, there MUST be something inside your tyre if you are constantly flatting.
There’s no other reason why you would flat so often. I’m assuming it’s the same wheel?
Also, what kind of flats are they. When you take out the innertube, does it have a tear or a hole?

Do you cycle past pubs with glass in the road?

Since we're on the topic:

What valve types does everyone here prefer? Schrader or Presta?

EDIT:

Supercow, it's always the back wheel. Pinch-flat (tear/splits) every time. I do, but I've religiously checked the inside of my rim and tyre for sharps, there's nothing.

I can only assume it's my fault. It's just weird, as I never used to have this problem and I thought I was lifting my weight away from the rear. :/

I prefer the skinny one with the bit the turns at the top... I always forget which is which.

As for "your fault you flat" .. I struggle believing that (not that you are lying, I just don't think that is the reason)

w00t!

My Actionsports.de order turned up!

Ordered 8:50 Friday morning of the Bank Holiday weekend, delivered 14:30 on the Tuesday after the bank holiday!

So thats my Racing Ralph and Nobby Nic 2.25" Snakeskin Pacestars.

Also swung by Merlin Cycles today and got myself a Gold Hope QR for the seatpost.

:D

I'm being serious, I'm not fit anymore, and I'm slowly getting back into cycling, I only do it for leisure just to get out and get some fresh air, I only go off road, and I cant do any jumps etc because I have a slipped Tendon

and yes some days are still nippy, it was this morning, no sun, high winds, and i feel the cold quite badly, when it is cold I FEEL it bad
