At the minute I've these tyres and they seem a good compromise to me. I'm not exactly a hard core rider just casually to keep fit and like I say not real off road usage!

I'm not exactly planning on competing in the tour de france or jumping of cliff faces!

So you classify mediocrity as good then?

What's the main difference then, rigid front forks and mega thin rims and tyres? Not sure those rim/tyre combo's look suitable for loose gravel footpaths though!

They are mtb geometries with a more road orientated wheel and tyre, perfect for the occasional footpath, what do you mean by loose gravel footpath like a canal path and cycle network paths? Because you could ride them on a unicycle with no problems :p

I used to commute on a dissused railway line to work (kitty litter surface in places), on my Cyclecross bike with 35c tyres. You don't need any more grip than that. Perhaps just a mountain bike with semi-slicks like Panaracer Mach SS tyres would do?

If Mr T needed a QR....

Also threw my new rubber on there. Had a quick ride, and my god the front tyre looks small in the fork compared to the Fat Albert, even if on paper it is only 0.1" different.

Had an excellent blast round the Highland Wildcat trails at Golspie last night. Complete run of the Black and Red.
Took this photo at the top of the Lactic Ladder
