Well this looks awesome!.. Asus Eee Transformer Tablet

Fighting myself deciding whether to order one now. One final question that will probably cause me to buy it instantly:

Can I map a drive/folder to my windows PC to access music/video. Or is there an application or similar I need to be able to stream media from it?

You can use file browser App like Astro, i was only successful with streaming music via this method though and never got the whole DLNA thing setup correctly to stream movies via DLNA, although i believe that others have had more success with DLNA Streaming.

I rooted mine yesterday and installed a custom rom, which then allows for CIFS Mapping, i believe the only way to get CIFS working is with a rooted rom that supports CIFS, more details on CIFSManager http://www.appbrain.com/app/cifsmanager/ws.plattner.cifsmanager

Within the CIFSManager Settings it mounts any network drives and fools android into thinking that its actually local drives, so now i just brows the mount point and everything plays (including video) without any added apps or software, but rooting is not for everyone, so may not be an option for you, you may have to try the DLNA route.

Plex is another option, which is a paid-for App that Streams movies from your collection to the tablet, it trans codes the movies on the fly, which is another option.

are there any clever cases that work well both with and without the keyboard? (I have neoprene sleeve from a previous laptop that is an OK standby)

See this is one thing that I'm looking for - something to stop the back of the tablet from scuffing up but something that I don't need to remove to dock.

I guess it will come with time.

Just to let those who are interested know. I updated to 3.1 and tried using a female to female USB adapter on the end of the cable, and it still didn't work with anything. Think it might need to the official adapter to get the pins right.

You can do that with a few apps, but I would advise looking up plex for android, it's a great streaming app that looks very nice too.

BBC iPlayer and 5OD are fine, but as DefiantAsh says, 4OD has issues selecting video on their web page from the test that i also did.
