You Couldn't Make It Up

Just been watching TV about the asylum seek debacle.
I cannot believe that while they are awaiting their claim, they are allowed to settle here, get married & even have kids. What if their claim fails? It’s just a joke.

While claiming they should either be housed in mass camps & be made to work & put any money earned back in to this country.

But the real blood boiler was seeing a man who claimed asylum successfully 8 years ago still NOT able to speak English. He was interviewed through an interpreter. WT..

After 8 years here if he cannot or won’t speak English he should be stripped of his asylum & sent back to rot from where he came.

This country it gets more insane by the minute & that’s not being racist, it’s being patriotic.

Woo just woo stop right there mr.

I know someone who came into this country to study as an asylum with his son. They were granted a holiday visa for awhile and to study and then to go back to their own country. They did everything by the book. They came back over for further education (paying) yes that's right and he was granted access after his 9th year in the UK after study.

He and his son have worked damn hard to be educated to English standard and I would like to say I would rather have him working in this country than someone who wants to claim benifits all their life! I bet there are few on these very forums somewhere lurking about getting their technology paid for!

Fair enough the ones who don't want to work yes.... get them out back to their own country but it's proving it all that's the problem.

Do you know if this person turned up on the door expecting to be let in or applied before they came?

I have no issue with granting asylum to those willing to become contributors to society but jusy to let anyone stroll in and take advantage really isnt on

When we spoke about it at first he just turned up to the door and then he was told to go straight back with more forms and more money to be allowed in as he had to pay something with his application to be allowed in for a short period on an education visa. First it was a holiday visa.

Still if Asylums are going to work damn hard like the working UK class good for them but we can't as a country keep handing out benifits to any willy nilly and people should atleast do something for the country to be paid. It makes me sick.

Patriotic? Do you love your country then?

Tell me what are your views on the millions more who skivvy through life collecting benefits and refusing to work just because they can?

That boils my blood. But it's because I love my country and hate to see it being bankrupted from the inside.

but there isnt millions of people playing the system, in fact benefit fraud is tiny, even more tiny compared to the billions of tax avoided by big corporations and other tax scams

I have mixed feelings about the whole issue. I can understand why some people need to escape from persecution in their own country, but I think they need to close the floodgates and do a lot more to control the number of people coming into the country. And they should definetely have stronger powers for dealing with illegals. They should be able to detain them and deport them the moment its apparant they breached their visa agreement. Stricter border controls would be a good thing too.

I wasn't talking about those who are breaking the law by committing fraud.

But aye, there's another massive drain on the country. Tesco apparently is a big culprit who for its size pays sod all tax. Still nothing wrong with that. Business or individuals are legally bound and allowed to pain the minimum they can (think it goes back to a ruling in the 30s?).

Those corporations need to be stopped but they are contributing massively to the system and not taking from it even if they do evade tax.

Benefit thieves are just taking and not putting anything in. Look at their benefit slip and its tiny. Look at the cost of housing, council tax etc and its huge.

Its brilliant watching every other country in europe just sit there as asylum seekers pour through their countries. They don't seem to care for some reason. Oh right, thats because they are just passing through on the way here.

I don't have a problem with people who want to come here, work hard, learn the language and integrate but who would honestly choose england as a place to live in europe if they were not trying to benefit from our lax immigration policy and benefits system.

I had to break up a fight at work between Polish and an English workmates.
Basically the Polish lad was boasting to everyone saying how he loves the UK (he calls it 'an easy country') and saying for what he pays in tax he gets more back in Tax Credits/Child Tax Credit/Child Benefit etc for his wife and family. The English lad was having to work 12 hour shifts to make ends meet. And so a fight pursued ....

Took both of them into the office and 20 minutes later we had to escort the English lad off site. There's no moral to this story thats just what happened.

Sounds like the English lad ought to be claiming tax credits.

Funnily enough I live in a town neighbouring a town where there are a lot of polish, however I didn't realise just how many until the other day where I spent several hours doing various jobs about the town center - and saw so so many Polish people, you could be forgiven for thinking you were in a heavily english populated area in Poland. There's more and more polish convenience stores etc. opening too.

1) English lad is clearly a pleb.
2) I assume the English lad has a family (making 'ends meat' on 12 hour shifts - on min wage that is £17k a year), so he will be entitled to exactly the same.

Welcome to the forums. You'll fit in just fine.

you're confusing avoidance and evasion.

Tax evasion = illegal and the government goes after it.

Avoidance =perfectly legal and probably something you do personally to.

Well rest assured its not the only town in the country like it. Its the same where I live.

I dont often go in to town but needed a new mobile so I popped in. Walking through the town centre the majority of people I heard talking were not speaking English

On the main road that runs to the town centre we have had probably 4 or 5 polish or other nations convenience stores open up in the past year. I have no problem with that but just shows the numbers we must have here to sustain all of them!
