Seems the Odemwingie rumours are starting build a little steam. Cheap I suppose is the thing to look for. Heard his name mentioned a few times in recent weeks but never really stood out for me this year.

Could be rumour milling though since he's a forward, and we've got probably 2 or more guys in that position leaving this summer.

Whoops, only really put it on to **** off Greenlizard and forgot to take it off. :o

It seems you were the only person to not realise just how 'perfect' that grammatical error was. :o

But take it down if either of you wish.

So Defoe who as you say is a poacher would score more goals in a team that don't put crosses into the box than at a team that does? :o

You're right that Tevez works well at City because he's the main man, he likes playing up on his own, only very briefly with Rooney have I ever seen him play well in a front two, Defoe though would be an out and out disaster playing up on his own for City!
Well Defoe doesn't play a lot for Spurs? They play Pav, VDV and Crouch. So he does not get much chance?

I didn't say that, what i said was that he is not a goal poacher in the box, he spends a lot of time in the gap between midfield and forwards.
a lot of time this year he has picked up the ball looked up and he has had no other option in the box. So he takes a wild shot or plays it back to Barry etc.

If we had someone like Defoe in the box then Tevez could play it through/off him and there would be a high chance of scoring instead of just playing it back to midfield. If we had Defoe he wouldn't play on his own though?

Eurosport:
MANCHESTER UNITED: Dimitar Berbatov could be on his way to French giants Paris Saint-Germain this summer, according to the Daily Mail. Speculation over the Bulgarian's future has grown ever since he was left out of the matchday squad for the Champions League final a week ago. Michael Owen was selected for a place on the Wembley bench against Barcelona despite Berbatov finishing the season as the Premier League's joint-top scorer.

..

I don't see why Fergie hates him, he's an amazing player, *sigh*. it gets frustrating watching everyone cream over Hernandez; ok he's a great buy for 7m but so many games, even the final, we could do with a man to hold the ball up and create something from nothing, which Hernandez can't do.

Well apparently Aresenal want Defoe!

And sometimes I really do think they read these forums to ge thei gossip because apparently Aston Villa will now make a move for Ben Foster!

Peeves me that we didn't want to just fork out for Foster, but we're happy to pay the wages of a 40 year old.

Odemwingie is decent and he impressed me at the Emirates this year (as did WBA in general - arguably the best performance from an away team I saw there).
However, I'm not sure if 'decent' is good enough, don't really see the benefit in signing him vs giving Vela more gametime.

Defoe is an Arsenal fan and was linked to the club when he was at West Ham, but I think that ship may have sailed now. He's not consistent enough in front of goal for me, may as well play Walcott down the middle if we want a livewire forward who'll miss a few sitters.

When has Berbatov ever done this for United though?

Come on, be honest, the past three seasons have hardly seen a litany of praise regarding his creating goals out of nothing and wonderful hold up play.

Even WITH Berbatov we could do a striker that can hold the ball up, win headers and get on the end of crosses.

Where did you pull that one from?

Have to say, I couldn't agree more. Joking about the sitters aside, I think it really could help to solve Arsenal's problems a tad. Get rid of Bendtner whack Theo up front and get another pacey winger or RB in to supply the ball. Seamus Coleman could be a good shout.

You're telling me Defoe is worth £10m when Andy Carrol was sold for £35??

Haha! Yeah they forgot to account for inflation. It's more like £35m as well then!

It's pretty much common knowledge that Defoe is (or at least was, you know how fickle people can be) an Arsenal fan. Bit of googling should provide some sources.

Seriously? :D

Lol.

In actual transfer news, I would hope we shift around our strike-force a bit as I fear we may be becoming a bit one-dimensional with Hernandez up front. Fergie seems to have a man-crush through his comments and regular starts even when Berbatov or Owen would have been a better tactical suit. Don't know if this would require a new signing or not though, definitely so if Berbatov is sold though.

Indeed, if Berbatov was played in more favourable sides (and to some extent positions) and was used better tactically, we would do much better a lot of the time.

Obviously his confidence will go down the drain if he doesn't score for a few games and then gets sat out for all the big ones.

I don't either but I suppose it could be worse. As long as we get SOMEONE that can play through the middle in an attacking sense, if I have to watch Carrick, Gibson and Park again, then... :(
