It will be interesting to see how Young fits in at Utd. A few people have mentioned the possibility of Hernandez being dropped with Young playing centrally behind Rooney - I can't see that happening and equally I can't see Taggart dropping Valencia. That just leaves a scrap between him and Nani for the left hand side and I can't imagine either will be too happy being a squad player.

That plan sounds ridiculous as it would be sacrificing Fergie's boy-toy (I actually fear he man have a man-crush) and pushing Rooney into an area that may actually by now not be his favoured position.

And being a squad player at United is far more acceptable than you'd think, Google Gibson's latest comments on the matter. :D

I don't recall mentioning Heinze.

He said something along the lines of it's far better to be a squad player at the level of United than to play first-team football with a worse team. It was in response to the Irish national manager, Trapatoni, saying that he needs to play regular first-team football for his form and chances to be picked in the Ireland squad.

Now Darron mightn't be the best source on anything outside smashing windscreens in the Old Trafford carpark during game time, but you get the point.

Funny, common theme that. :D

I suppose to keep this thread somewhat on topic, I do find it somewhat amusing that the star players of two other clubs both release comments along the lines of "I want to play at the highest level" after being linked in the papers with United. :D

Especially in Nasri's case, given with Arsenal he's pretty much already 'at that level' in terms of competitions and probably would get more game time with them too.

Daily Fail saying that Young to United will go through in the next couple of days, I'll admit I've come round to the possibility of us signing him now in a 'he'll be good for the squad kind of way'

I'm happy with seeing Young at united. Now to sign Snjieder.

I kinda see Young almost playing in Chico's role but from midfield. He has the speed and kinda plays the same as Chico. Wonder what role he will play.

Sunderland are chasing 10million rated Peter Crouch.

That's the news I wanted to hear. Maybe 'Arry will be forced into buying a top class striker.

Oh and also:

Gervinho and two other players will be announced Newcastle united players on Thursday in a press conference at 1pm. My guess is Neil Taylor and Yohan Cabaye, or Shane Long.

Valencia sign Klose after missing out on Gamerio.

Steve Morison has joined Norwich from Millwall for an undisclosed fee.

Still not quite sure what we'll do with Young, in the big matches he won't play because Fergie sets up to play defensively with defensive wingers like Valencia and Park playing. I can't see him playing 2 wingers and 2 strikers much either.

LFC nearly have deals done for Henderson and Wickham, should be done in days.
Also at advanced stages of negotiating for Downing (cry) and Phil Jones.

Henderson, Wickham and Jones I'd be happy about. Not particularly happy about the prices but I think its going to be that way for many signings for many teams this summer. Prices have gone nuts this year, doesnt seem too long ago that £20m would get you a world class star and now it gets you just 1 of Henderson, Jones or Young. Nevertheless, Henderson, Wickham and Jones are decent young signings, I'm liking this idea of building a team that could last a decade.

(dont want Downing though)

Why do people hate Downing - he's been comfortably Villa's best player this year and would walk in to the Liverpool side as you have no wingers? Plus his delivery is good and you have Carrol. :/

Its not that I hate him, I just dont want him. There are many players I wouldnt want, some of them very talented, its just there are some people that I'd rather not be paying £15-20m for and others that I can accept, sometimes begrudgingly, paying £15-20m for. Nothing to do with hate though.

"Liverpool have agreed a deal for Roma goalkeeper Doni, 31, as back-up for Pepe Reina."

Dont really know anything about Doni, anyone know about him?

Only seen this in the daily fail, so take with a pinch of salt for now..
As for the guy - he's not the best keeper, but he's a personality thats for sure, a bit of a wild thing.. should be fun to have around the dressing room.

Dont hate Downing per se, just hate the thought of paying more then 12m for downing..
Still, its not my money.
