Dungeon Siege 3

I'll try the demo when I get home.

Havn't played DS 1 or 2 though so you'll get my opinion from a fresh perspective. :)

Been playing for 20 mins and I'm enjoying it. The controls take a little while to get used to, but I love the way the camera slowly pans around to follow you from behind when you change direction.

It isn't as frenetic as DA2, for example. It's been years since I played the first two so I can't really confirm / deny the speed difference.

I havent played ds 1 or 2, but I dont like the ds 3 demo...its more of an adventure game than action rpg.

do not want

RPS writer says it's a lot slower and more thought processing is involved.

Any truth to that?

That really wouldn't be hard compared to it's predecessors. DS1 was better than 2, but I found I lost interest in the game fairly quickly and it became a chore. And then I bought DS2 like an idiot and the same thing happened only faster.

I liked the mule though.

Played a bit and....eurgh, feels too consoley and the camera/controls are rubbish. Oh well props to them for making a demo I suppose but I won't be getting this. Kind of reminds me of the DA2 demo....it's not what I was hoping/expecting.

The controls and the UI are appalling, but I am quite enjoying the gameplay. It also looks quite pretty. May be a console purchase rather than a PC purchase with the control scheme though.

It's pretty enough, but "feels" odd to play. Combat does seem to be a case of mash the left mouse button and hope what you're doing kills the baddie. The UI is a bit clunky and the slight pause when switching to the Character screen starts to grate a little.

Unfortunately, it's not going on my to buy list. What the games needs is one mule, 8 controllable party members and a riot of noise, garish FX and mayhem during frequent massive battles. A modern PC should be able to handle this and I'd be first in the queue to spend my monies. I want complexity, not streamlining. :D

As it stands, it's rather anonymous. :(

yeah first impression for me is that teh camera system is awful, much too zoomed in with very little option to scale it out.

Also the UI looks huge, hopefully this is just a bit of demo lack of options as opposed to what it will be like for full release.

I kept checking the options to see if i was at the wrong resolution it just looked that odd to me.

Havent even had any combat yet ive been that infuriated trying to sort out the camera angles

Just had a go and the camera angle was the first thing that annoyed me also. Also the blocking system is weird as you press space when your stood still to block and you end up rolling most of the time, which is quite annoying. The controls aren't greatly explained, mostly with how you get your health back and equiping items you get etc also.

The level up system seems quite comprehensive though and better implemented than say torchlight and titan quest, which this game reminds me off greatly.
