Girlfriend not able to drink... what do?

I can't believe how much importance people place on alcohol and how their lives seem to revolve around it. Are people that boring now that they can't have fun without an "aid"?

Agreed, it's much worse.

Its really not. It means you get to drive late at night which is waaaaaay more fun than an entire evening of drinking.

Yes not drinking at uni can be hard but I did it. Although I do drink alcohol...just I am very snobbish about what I drink (real ale or decent cider or GTFO :p) so didnt drink for most of uni, friends just get used to it and you can pull awesome pranks on drunk people :D

dehydration is a big cause of headaches. drinking wine, cider, stella, wkd, any drinks that are 5% and over will give instant headaches if dehydrated.
providing she drinks 2-3L of water a day, she should be ok on single vodkas with glass filled to top with coke.
dont forget that alcohol dehydrates the body anyway

whining and even visiting the doctors cause of dehydration headaches = LOL, stupid woman not knowing how to look after her own body and then whinging and crying that she cant drink cause of it

Why do people have to drink in order to have a good time? :(

Gosh you can really tell who the t-totallers are in this thread.

She doesn't HAVE to have a drink she wants to. There's nothing wrong with wanting to do something you enjoy.

You don't have to use a PC but you enjoy it, imagine you couldn't because you get headaches from the screen.

Pff, not drinking is easy.

I'm on my 2nd year at uni, haven't bought one drink, only sipped tiny amounts of others people to see what they taste like. Decided the taste wasn't worth the cost, and have no interest in getting drunk.

However, I can agree it might be tricky if you aren't used to not drinking when you did previously drink.

'Girlfriend not able to drink... what do?' - Don't drink.

I didn't drink through uni, nearly 5 years overall. In-fact I didn't drink for like 7 years, it's not essential.. If she really is that desperate to get monged buy her a bag of weed tbh. You'll both be fine.

Please first try that advice of tricking her with non alcoholic drink and see the outcome. seriously girls at that age can be funny.
Some yrs ago my ex at almost the same age made a fool out of me with similar complaints only to get her pants down telling her friend how i was too much into her that i was even willing to stop drinking only for her sake. (Esp if you have ever confessed that you love the bottle 2 much). Seriously she may be playing games with you!

secondly have you tried Guinness! i have hard very many confessions from friends of how it sorted out their headache problems.

And for all those wandering why some of us are obsessed with drinking that's life because I also wonder why people are obsessed with sex!. I can abstain from it for 2yr but i can't finish 2wks without a drink!.

As has been said many times, test the placebo effect and give her something she thinks is alcohol free that has a tiny bit in. You say a tiny sip can cause the headaches so a tiny bit should be enough to simulate that. Just put a bit of baileys in a coffee at the bottom mixed with milk, or a bit of vodka in a strong juice drink like j2o. OR....do it the other way round and give her something alcoholic with no alcohol in as that might be easier although more distressing for her to be actively drinking something she thinks IS alcoholic. Hence I recommend the first one.

The sooner you do this the better as you have to rule out this being psycological with respect to her. Also, get her to change her pill to a different one. My g/f has been on so many different ones and they all give her some sort of different side effect.

Non-alcoholic wine or beer won't prove anything if she's allergic to something in them aside from the alcohol, so is a pointless test.

Spiking a non-alcoholic drink with alcohol is better, but only identifies the issue being alcohol (a tiny component of wine/beer).

If she has had headaches on vodka and orange then a spiked OJ with vodka would be the best test...

Buy her a bottle of Ribena! Alcohol is not the be all and end all of having a good time. Now, wheres my glass of wine! :D

Did anyone suggest funneling alcohol into her butt, thereby completely bypassing the digestive system (apart from the butt itself obviously)? This could be achieved discretely in the ladies' latrine.

I went out with some friends last night and we went to a club - Since I had work in the morning I was watching what I was drinking all night, and about a couple of hours before we would leave I started drinking Coke. The stupid thing was, you could get bottles of Smirnoff Ice (A horrible excuse for a drink I know but we are struggling young men :p) for £1.00, Diet Coke was £1.50! In the end, I was paying more to stay sober! Ridiculous :p

I would suggest to stop drinking for a few months, maybe her body just needs a detox and more water?
