Clichy, meh, he's not worked for years at Arsenal, partially a case of how Arsenal play, I can't tell how much is down to Clichy not being good enough or if its just Arsenal being pap.

I don't know, we've not had anyone upfront to actually cross to in years, so our crossing has gone to crap, because we don't really cross, the whole need to play overlapping fullbacks and getting good crosses in, isn't there.

Essentially Clichy's pace really doesn't offer us a whole heck of a lot going forwards because of the way we attack these days, wide guy who goes narrow, slow attacks, no overlap, no crossing. Would he get very good again in a side that actually utilises those attributes? Look at Baines with a couple people in the middle to cross to, Cashley when Drogba went off the boil and had Torres to cross too... didn't get much done.

He's probably wasted at Arsenal, but Wenger will see Gibbs as a replacement, who frankly I haven't seen a hint at being good enough defensively, and is one of the worse sicknotes in the team.

We're unlikely to attract someone better than Clichy for equal/less than we'd get for Clichy, so a bad deal all around. Losing Clichy for 5mil, and spending 10-15mil on someone as good as him, a "great" left back offensively will face the same problems as Clichy, a team simply not built for attacking fullbacks anymore.

If Arsenal get a real winger or two, and play 4-4-2 with a guy to cross too, then Clichy may be very very good for us.

I'm not sure I care anymore, anything Wenger does with the team will be wasted, any great player will be in a team thats not working. Arshavin, Kos, Squillaci, Chamakh, didn't make the slightest bit of difference, dropping Almunia for a seemingly far better keeper, again no difference. How many more bad buys will we make, who don't work, before we get rid of the guy in charge.

I know nobody actually cares.

Sheffield Wednesday a while ago signed two players;

Rob Jones from Scunthorpe (We had him on loan for a while towards the end of the season and he did very well)
David Prutton from Swindon Town, who were relegated.

I'm not "bowled" over by either signings they seem just fairly solid players, they're both quite old. (31 / 29) They've both signed two year deals.

Would still like to see much more movement from us as last season showed we just aren't anywhere near where we should be.

Lewis Buxton, Jermaine Johnson and James O'Connor have all signed new deals at the club, which is again a bit underwhelming.

Miller / Hinds have been let go as well, Hinds never got a look in but to be fair he's been injured a lot and isn't anything near as good as he was 2/3 seasons back.

On the no-one cares note, I think Plymouth Argyle's biggest signing will be actually paying their players, lol :(

Tummy JOC is a legend and my boyhood hero! League one play off semi final against cardiff last few minutes and we were out. Cardiff city announcer told thier fans ro remain seated for their "victory parade" up pops JOC to send us through to the final!

Mega Kudos to Peter Reid for what he tried to do at Plymouth, they well and truly spanked us at home.

Apparently an Irish consortium is taking over and sorting that out. I hope they do, hold a lot of respect for Peter Reid (even if its for little things like paying the clubs heating bill).

Tummy, I agree with the signings being underwhelming. Isnt this the season to rebuild the team into something dynamic??? At least United came down for a fun game...

On a cool tip cross your fingers Wednesday snap up N'guessen who we had on loan last year (and is out for a nominal fee from Leicester). Pace and scored the odd quality goal (all of which were deemed off side as the lines man had bets riding on Walsall beating us at home)

This guy was at Colchester United season before last for 6 months. He does show some nice touches but overall he is average to be honest.

All the rumour talk today is Utd have officially gone after Nasri, Liverpool have made a bid for CLichy, Cesc is probably on his way out as Barca have 45mil to spend before they sell players, which frankly selling off some crap at a high price to the usual guys who assume anyone ever at Barca was great(redknapp/Comolli) could raise 30-40mil more with ease.

Its not so much that the players leaving is bad, Clichy hasn't been good in ages, Nasri is massively overhyped, Cesc simply deserves to go where ever he wants, its the appearance that the team is being picked apart at rock bottom prices simply because no one regards Arsenal as a great team anymore.

No one goes to Barca and offers 5mil for their first choice left back, nor Utd, its just stupid, no one would expect Evra or Abidal to walk out for 5 mil and join some rival. Wengers now turned us into a team that other managers feel comftable making cheeky offers for.

If Arsenal came second every year and occasionally won, Nasri wouldn't even consider going to Utd. We're fast becoming a joke and Wenger is yet again looking ridiculous in the transfer window. UTd pretty much spent 55mil already, Arsenal are thinking about 10mil for Samba but being overly cautious even about that and Samba, while I think he's actually a very good defender, isn't building for the future or really a world class talent to be going after.

So Clichy's going for cheap now as well then.

Is he on his last year of a contract DM? You understand the point I made above? :(

Our first team's had enough and they're joining our rivals for the 4 Champs League slots. Not at this rate we'll be heading there next year anyway lolkermitthefroglol.

Have we had any rumors (LFC) about interest in defensive players? I can understand Henderson but I think we need a bolster in defense rather than going after more strikers and midfielders.

Interestingly on my FM save yesterday a news item popped up about Phil Jones so I sent a scout after him and he was so excited he nearly wet himself. Phil Jones is now at United on my FM save :P Not sure Young will be joining him as he doesn't look too hot.

In the real world it'll be interesting to watch DeGea and Jones in the England game on Sunday!

Yeah, last year of his contract, but frankly if we were actually in the mix winning the odd title, he wouldn't have gotten to the last year of his contract.

Had Flamini got a few more games, the odd game in position he would have signed a contract aswell and we'd have at the very least gotten a fee for him. Same rubbish for years now, this was a window that we should have come out as strong as Utd.

Utd won a damn title and came racing out the gates saying "you lot have NO chance next year, we're the place to be, join us rather than anyone else".

Why did Jones choose Utd over Arsenal, location, or because they win things and the talks with Young, De Gae convinced JOnes of that already?

We needed to come out strong, grab a defender, a keeper, a right back, and frankly we could have been looking for buyers for Denilson/Diaby/Sagna for ages already.

Instead we're losing targets to rivals, encouraging our own players to leave and doing nothing to change the situation.

Theo is all over the press being his usual delusional self, so is Djourou "we're going to win a title soon then we'll go crazy", errm, we're not good enough to win a title so firstly we won't win one, how would winning a title making the same group of rubbish players exceptional? It wouldn't, the problem with ARsenal players is they think they are good enough, Wenger thinks they are good enough, and they all seem to go along with this delusion that they don't actually need to improve, just get a bit luckier.

Jesus, Diaby is apparently a Spurs fan, walks around in his house with a Spurs shirt on and wants to play with Kaboul if reports are to be believed.

What kind of players do we have, bad attitude, lazy, delusional, overpaid. We have a massive squad and upset all our bench players to the degree that they walk out for pathetic(mostly) fee's, our first team constantly want to leave.

Young for 3 years has said he'd love to play for Arsenal, we could have nabbed him anytime and had a truly great player, in a position we have no one, instead he's a gooner and he's gone to our biggest rivals because Arsenal aren't even a real choice right now.

Looks like Sneijder has no intention of leaving Inter then, good, darned happy about that as I really rate Sneijder, have done for a long time, so chuffed that he wont be going to a rival.
