Twitter traffic heating up, suggesting that City will bid a maximum of £25m and Utd have bid higher. Deal done to Utd @ £27m are wide of the mark as his representatives are meeting Italian clubs tomorrow. Not a forgone conclusion he is going to Eastlands at this stage

Mirror Today says

Manchester United are ready to seal a £27million deal for Udinese’s Chilean star Alexis Sanchez - under the noses of Manchester City and Barcelona.

United supremo David Gill flew to Barcelona yesterday to meet Udinese’s negotiators who were talking to the Catalans as the auction for the talented attacking midfielder comes to the boil.

And Gill was also spotted in talks with Sanchez’s representatives who have been with Barca - with insiders revealing that the player wants to go to United above all of their rivals.

Sanchez does indeed look a great player in the making. Hopefully he could turn in to a great player at a club like United.

The stories in tomorrow's papers are no different to what SSN reported around lunch time that Udinese held talks with us, Barca and City today and will hold talks with Italian clubs tomorrow

Unlike Sneijder Snachez is one Fergie has spoken of favourably in the past so I can believe our interest but it obviously still begs the question as to why we're potentially signing him and Ashley Young when we already have Nani and Valencia at the club?

Even with both Young and Sanchez's versatility to be able to play in behind the striker I still can't see all 4 playing enough games to keep them all happy tbh

I still don't get the Carrick love. He does play amazing passes now and again, but what I remember of him is giving the ball away, match in, match out throughout the entire season. He also gets caught out of position and doesn't track back well IMO.

Exactly. He is woefull imo and nowhere near good enough to wear a United shirt.

Maybe Sanchez will be brought in to replace a departing Nani ? Will be interesting to see what develops.

Some chap who works for ESPN in Chile (I believe) Verified account on twitter. Has posted that Sanchez has/will sign for United for £27M

El #Chileno Alexis Sanchez sera jugador de #MUFC para la proxima temporada...por £27 millones .@razaespn

The #Chilean Alexis Sanchez will be a #MUFC player for next season ... for £27 million

Fox are also reporting he will sign a 5 year $160,000 a week deal.

Not that I would take any of this without a huge pinch of salt.

Please be true.. :)

Glad I'm not alone - and your actually in Manchester, so your opinion counts double :)

surely going to live matches counts much more than were somewhere lives!!!

(apart from the fact I lived in Salford for 5 years in the late 90's)

Just been reading in the telegraph that Sanchez's wage demands are excessive

We'll have no money left for a central midfielder at this rate, if the Sanchez situation is true then that's near £80m spent and not a centre mid in sight, and there I was hoping we would sign two.
