Why the **** would we sell Nolan?:rolleyes::confused:

Why doesn't Cashley just sell the whole squad, or just voluntarily put us straight into the championship without bothering next year?

Stunning decision but thats Newcastle these days, I ******* hate my club :(

Same mate, and I've just today went and ordered a season ticket, lol. I must be bloody mad, always the option to not sign the DD agreement and not send it in, so I'll watch this space.

Great football strategy by the FCB, sell our two top goalscorers, lol. Bet you he used to play Championship Manager in the early 90's on the Amiga, although in his version of the game, he just sold all the players, the club went into administration, and the final cutscene of teh game was him sailing off into the med on a yatcht.

Seriously, are Newcastle unaware of the financial trouble they were in, the fact that they are doing well, the fact that the club is being run, errm, sanely unlike most of the league, the fact that they got relegated with Fat Sam's wage drain team sucking them down, the fact they've completely turned it around and finished 12th, 3 points off 8th and thats selling their only real striker half way through the season for a phenomenal fee, and he had already missed quite a while injured anyway?

Some people might think he'd bought the club, made them pretty much financially sound, and doesn't want to give Nolan his probably final 4 year contract for the highest wage he can find. Isn't he a bit of a trouble maker aswell, did have two very good years at Newcastle though.

its a bit odd but I can certainly see them wanting to buy other players, 12th, a younger long term creative midfielder, a winger, and a couple strikers and they could very easily finish top half next season.

From the outside it looks like getting rid of a high wage earner, and likely Barton the biggest *** in the league and they've had a pretty much fantastic first season back in the premiership.

Yes Mr Saeed, there are no tanks in Baghdad either.

Inter Milan's Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder will be allowed to leave to join Manchester United for a fee of about £35m

could united afford to buy sanchez and sneijder or is that crazy talk

Anyway Frank, theres one other way to interpret that quote by Nani, that would be that he wants Mourinho to be the next Utd manager ;) .

No there isnt as there is the "but " in the middle , "but Im happy at Utd for now" indicated he doesnt think Mourinho will come to Utd

(nd after JM's antics re CL this season, thats another thing against him imo)

If Nani didn't shoot so much, I doubt we'd have won the league.

We have too many players who as soon as they get into the final third, just pass sideways or backwards. Nani is always willing to run at the defence and shoot or cross. You need players like him to win matches, and he won many for us this season.

I guess you are happy ignoring the fact that over the season (well 1/2 season he played) he wasted way more decent chances by shooting wildly than he was ever likely to actually score (hey why not add his assists into that as well)

With that decision, and the one to not offer Barton a new contract, surely it signals a move away from the (relatively) high wages of previous years. They don't want to compete with the biggest teams on wages, but they don't want to be seen as a highest paying employers of the ~lesser~/~mid-table~ teams... as they they get arguably average players for arguably above average wages, no?

they have the biggest support/stadium of the bottom 10 do they not? therefore they can easily afford higher wages. i think he has now seen that buying a football club is not the cash cow he thought it was going to be, and is now trying to redeem his huge losses.

Absolutely no doubt he's being sold. Spurs just holding out for top dollar. Looks like between Chelsea and Utd

Dont forget Citeh - who are just as likley to offer twice as much as either of the other two just so Modric doesnt join (not saying Modric will chase the money at all, but wont stop Citeh offering

Really depends on whether Modric wants to move North to a grimmer city but potentially have more success, or be comfortable in London & still be successdul but (if the last 20 years are anything to go by) be slightly less so

Sod Spain and sod Sanchez, he needs to get his ass back to Manchester pronto!

All he needs is a fax and phone - doenst need to be in Manchester

"While we were busy beating Barca to Sanchez, we also snapped up Modric under Chelsea's nose"

LOL (and for those worried that either, let alone both, is actually likely - I want some of what you are smoking!!!) :)

I think Ferguson would take Sanchez over Sneijder just mainly cause of his age. I also think Sanchez has still good few more years to learn where Sneijder is in his peak and more importantly I would say Sanchez will be less on the wage bill.

Ive just read that the original fee is £3.5 million but could then rise to £16.5 million.

If this is true then it will be a class piece of business getting that amount for a player of his age. Source is The Sun so not exactly accurate but nevertheless if it is, its a good piece of businesses. Wouldnt mind seeing us go in for Scott Parker now.

JOEY BARTON admitted he feels 'sick' at Kevin Nolan's £3.5million move from Newcastle to West Ham.

Skipper Nolan's decision to drop into the Championship has caused a storm on Tyneside after the midfielder teamed up with former Toon boss Sam Allardyce in a deal worth £16.5m in all.

I think you're misinterpreting that. I'd imagine the fee is £3.5m but the total cost to West Ham, including Nolan's wages over however many years he's signed for, is £16.5m.

Not that the S*n what the **** it's talking about though.

Anything happened with Arsenal and Gervinho? It's hard to get too excited having never seen him kick a football. I did read that Arsenal are his preferred club after being linked with Spurs and Man City as well. We're apparently interested in Hazard as well but isn't everyone? What makes that probable bull is that I believe Gervinho is also a right winger so why would we even buy two of them in the same window...

The last I heard was he said he'd do anything to play for Arsenal, of course this could be the usual rubbish but it still sounds promising.

Edit: it was goal.com that I read it on, I have no idea how reliable they are though.
