Its really quite funny that people think a player with a year less on his contract, and having had a recurring injury problem all season, and having no where near as good a season should be worth the same. When has that ever been true?
Henry, great season, loads of goals, turning down 30mil offers, stays another season, 1 year less on his contract, not as good a season, more injuries....... we took 16mil.
Similar situation with Vieira, kept a year and was worth less. Thats normally what happens, I'm also assuming(maybe incorrectly) that wear and tear was loosely translated and he was refering to ongoing hamstring issues, which he has.
Fabregas, in the league, got 15 goals and 15 assists last season, 3 goals and 13 assists this season and he didn't play that much less, 3-4 games basically.
Reo Coker, people are really suggesting Reo Coker could be a good signing, he's ruddy useless, headless chicken who runs a lot and does very very little. Upson, if we could get him for a cheap wage, maybe. He was actually insanely good in Zola's first year, he had injury issues the year after, and he was fantastic at the start of the season just gone for 4-5 games till someone stamped on his ankle, no form since he came back from that though West Ham had a back four that changed every game.
There is actually potential there for Upson to be very very good again and he used to play left back, as frankly I don't rate Gibbs in the slightest defensively, that might not be a terrible idea.
