****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

well since i stuck 'lighting rom' on at 10am - phone just switched off at 7pm with dead battery, first time i have not made a full day. pfffffff

Just had to laugh at Orange phoned them as I get terrible 3g/hs here its mostly on 2g they went through all the tedious settings etc, she then tells me that my area is over congested and this was the issue and Iphone users are given a 3g signal over normal users which I found a laugh, they did knock £5 a month off my contract so happy enough with that for now.

That may have some truth as orange charge (or will try to) charge an extra £10 pm if you have a iphone.

I cant say I'd ever want to read text for long periods of time on a ~4" screen!

why not? I used to use my desire for ebooks, and especially in an unlit room it was fantastic (black background with grey/silver text) as only the text was lit due to AMOLED win. Combine with volume button page turning, it makes for a very good reader in bed as you can comfortably lie on your side and read it, unlike with a bigger ebook reader or a real book.

I can't remember the app i used to use though :(

Tom.

Just ordered my handset this morning and can't wait to get tinkering.

Will have a go at rooting when it arrives, I jailbroke my iPhone 3GS enough times and this seems easier to do anyway.

In terms of Samsung's bloat-ware what do people recommend to remove? Is there a definitive list of what is safe to remove and what is not?

Problem with TK is that it sometimes is so high that it blocks the part that shows you what you're typing... so you have to press back to get an overview!

Simplest solution to this is adjust the keyboard height under Keyboard Dimensions screen!

I have mine set to 90% for portrait and 95% for landscape and now it's as usable height wise as any stock keyboard but the keys are nicer spaced slightly.

There are many more layout customisations as well. Disabling things like the cursor key row, editable shortcut keys row etc also improves the onscreen dimensions and usability.

KHAN has i believe. he's never 2.5 seconds away from an android thread so i'm sure you'll get your answer very soon :p

Yes yes!
I got mine via mobilefun.co.uk

Thanks for the info mate, gives me a good idea where to start.

I assume TWlauncher is for the touch wizz overlay. What launcher do you use instead?

i use ADW, but properly most guys on here will use launcher pro, or go launcher, i left TWlaucher on as its nice to flip between sometimes. I actually think its quite good for a default launcher.

remember to freeze rather than uninstall, just to be safe first off.

Will do, thanks.

Shame o2 don't deliver on saturdays as I'm so impatient when it comes to new gadgets!
