I'm reminded of it everyday as my company did a lot of the construction works. I'm sure it will be a lovely event before, in a few years time, the area will fall into a dilapidated state ala Stratford and all will be forgotten again.
You guys are just funny.
Millions of tax payers money yes. But think about what it does for the rest of the economy of the country. Hotels BnBs, that little sandwich shop in london? All will be rammed, giving them some nice income.
+ at the price of tickets, they will make a nice buck back on the investment.
LOLThe only way I could care less about the Olympics is if I was American and unable to understand that the correct term is "couldn't care less".
Tax payers from entire country contribute.......
London Benefits
Not a sport person so couldn't care less about it.
All it means to me is cost to the taxpayer.
Same here.
We should've have let Paris have the games.
Unless your office is on the start/finish line the road will be closed for at most the day, probably a couple of hours either side of the race passing through.Think of all the disruption it'll cause. The road cycle course goes right past my office, so I guess it'll be closed for a week beforehand to make sure terrorists don't plant any IEDs on the route. They'll also have to resurface all the potholed roads which will cause major traffic disruption - at least it's London taxpayers paying not me.
This has been my sentiment on it too. I may live in London, but my heart is in Yorkshire. Not sure what financial benefit is brought to Bradford, or Dumfries or Carlisle by the Olympics.
More interested in Euro 2012 Football tbh.
I thought this was going to be a medical thread asking for advice on how to cure constipation.
