Mirrors on the Torres transfer with Modric, Chelsea wouldn't of bid so low if they hadn't been speaking to the player beforehand..
Hope Spurs hold out for as much as possible as we did.

I've been wondering, where did placeholder come from?! I don't recognise the name, but now he's appeared and started chatting SO MUCH ****.

Chelsea don't seem too keen on reining back on spending... I really hope the proverbial hits the fan next year, with regard to the financial fair play rules, when I could well be studying sports law.

Im just as entitled to post as you are as far as im aware.

Just because you dont agree with it does not make it ****, you'll do well to keep that in mind when you start studying law.

So much for redknapp saying "tottenham are not selling modric, end of story"

Quite happy about Marveaux going to Newcastle, was never convinced it would be a good signing from the moment it was first mentioned, was always worried we were going to use him as a band aid winger instead of getting a top winger, hopefully now we can concentrate on signing a top winger.

well he was hardly going to say ''yes, we are prepared to sell our best player'' was he? i just hope that the deal only goes through if drogba comes our way included. levy is no mug.

Wouldnt be the first manager this summer who has said that if the price was right they would sell their player. Quite a few managers have said that already this summer. Honesty is the best policy and all that :D

Oh well looks like Modric will be off. Time for Levy to milk Roman for all its worth, as above try and get Drogba in with the deal. As I feel if its just a cash deal, it will be cashed into Levy's pocket and not spent on the team.

Its early days yet but I cant see us spending a great deal as none of the top players want to play for Spurs as they we not in the Champions league and cant offer 100-200k + wages like the sugar daddy owned clubs. So it looks like we will be replacing Modric with the likes of Parker :(.

Need a new stadium ASAP so we can dish out the wages otherwise we will forever be a selling club.

Indeed, reputation on the back of two good performances in 'high profile' games vs Inter...

Even Pennant managed MOTM in a CL final!

As a Spurs fan I have to agree, he had some great games (more than 2), but went missing far too many times. Phil Neville made him look carp. Modric is class, I know people can pull stats out assists/goals etc to make him look average, but he makes Spurs tick, without him 7th will be a par finish for Spurs next season.

I don't regard him as an AMF, when i've watched him he's played very deep at times; he's like a much more talented Carrick imo?

"I wish to make it absolutely clear, as I have said previously, that none of our key players will be sold this summer. We are building a team for the future to consistently play at the highest level and retaining quality players is crucial to that.

"In respect of Luka Modric, we are not prepared to sell, at any price, to Chelsea Football Club or any other club.

"We made our stance on this issue abundantly clear in writing to Chelsea. They chose to ignore it and then subsequently made the offer public.

"For the avoidance of any doubt, let me reiterate that we shall not enter into any negotiations whatsoever, with any Club, regarding Luka.

"We now consider this matter closed."

Make or break summer for Spurs. It will be interesting to see if there is any truth in Modric's comment and if true how he will react to Levy's clear refusal to sell.

of course he'll sell and chelsea know this. it's textbook tactics, most spurs fans have pretty much resided to the fact it's only a matter of time.
