How much do you actually download ?

just a little off topic, but we get Sky broadband on friday, it's LLU and will be miles better than our current BT connection. At £7.50 plus line rental (cheaper than BT) for llu and no limits people in our situation would be mad not to have it and then enable anytime+. We have limited choice of isp's in our exchange and this will save us a tenner a month for double upload speed and anytime+

I ususally download about 50gb of stuff a month and I have a huge backlog of stuff to play/watch. I wonder less about how people can download that much and more about where they find time to watch it all.

I download so much I dont know why my provider hasnt been knocking down my door demanding to know why.

BTW 50mb connections just make the situation worse cause you can do it even faster! :D

43.2 GB per day / 1.339TB per month

Pretty much always maxing out my connection but limit it to 500kbps

This thread and particularly responses like this makes me want to cry, the mind set of the modern consumer is frightening.

My average month is probably a gig or two max. Some months I may go over that if I miss something good on TV and watch it on catch up but most are already recorded on my PVR.

Main reason mine is so high is because I use Sky Player. TVcatchup, BBCiplayer a lot!

With the amount people are quoting here you all must be buying new hard drives every 2 months.....

Hard drive space is now the limiting factor with regards to what is downloaded....

One or two GB, LOL. I use that much on my mobile and use it only on the go.

Do you know what streaming is?

There are also so many services in Cloud that I can't believe people are not aware of.

You lot need to realise not everyone uses the Internet solely for browsing OcUK or Farcebook.

Yes i do, i am talking with regards to newservers.......

Just because someone PIRATES a movie/tv show doesn't mean they would EVER think about buying it.

If you couldn't download them people wouldn't bother even watching them, 95% of them are ****e and not even worth a quid.

Same with games, imagine you actually paid 30quid for the new duke nukem for example, you would be gutted...

If something is worth buying it will get bought. I have a steam account with over 1k$ worth of games, also my spare room is full of so many DVDs/VHS you could make a base out of them:D

I know what you mean. The urge to acquire is almost overwhelming sometimes, so that often I spend more time acquiring stuff (be that online or at the shops) that I do actually watching or playing it. I realise it's stupid, that I should stop and just reduce the backlog - play some of the games I've already bought or watch some of the TV I've downloaded - but I can't seem to stop. Very frustrating tbh - to know that I've been conditioned into being a good little consumer as our society demands.
