yes they do.

Ea get a cut of the profits of all ranked servers. (and probbaly a smaller cut from the others)

You think they just provide software and support to server companies for free and take a huge loss in the process?

Got any proof, seen many a Dice employee say EA make nothing of ranked servers, the server provider takes it all. Any support or software provided will be a one off with the launch of the game, there maybe some updates down the line but it's not costing EA much if anything at all.

They provide the hosting for the stats. That's not free.

That's to be expected, hell they still hosting BF2 stats after six years, it's an insignificant cost to EA.

You mean through game sales? Not stopped them from pulling support for other older games in the past. And with BF2 as old as it is I doubt they are making much revenue off sales through it.

Sorry if this has been discussed or mentioned but I couldn't come up with much via Google (My GoogleFu is weak) but has much been mentioned about the "mounting" of heavy machine guns ingame? I was wondering if there was a 90 degree arc of fire etc or if the player is able to turn 360.

Pretty sure someone from E3 said it was 90 degree arcs.

No, any server provider that wants to offer ranked servers pays EA. If they don't pay EA, they don't get access to the stats and their servers aren't ranked.

Yeah Im pretty sure Ive read that when you deploy your bipod you get a realistic arc of fire, and if you move out of this you will have to un-deploy

Man I cant wait to get some suppressive fire action! :D

Didn't we discuss this earlier in this thread and came to the conclusion that an Israel based shooter would be most excellent?

oh hell yes.

Starting off with some counter insurgency ops in Palestine, then moving on later to a large special forces pre-emptive strike against the massed Arab nations in enemy territory (like the start of the 6 day war but with more ground troops than just jets) then back to Israel for a large defensive land war against a numerically superior enemy.

So much scope for different battle types.

Also so much scope for moral ambiguity, i.e you're not always the glorious and eternally righteous Americans, you can be the dirty and illegal assassin of enemy civilian scientists or terrorists.

Cue complaints from the Israeli's about how it portrays them as barbaric warmongers ><
