****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

i hope one day good releases android as a installer, that you download from the web and then click install! so we can all have 'pure' android if we so choose

You'll be looking forward to this then. The Rom Kitchen is coming to the SGS2 soon so you'll be able to cook your own ROM. Click on the original SGS and select Generator and you can see the kind of things you'll be able to include/exclude in your build.

A mate has used this for a while on his SGS and I always wished it was available for the Desire. Now I have an SGS2, I can't wait for this.

thanks jimlad

im a bit new to all this rooting and rom'ing but i think ill have a go at a custom Rom

i do like messing about with things and im sure ill get the hang of it, just worried to brick the phone the first day i get it

im thinking about trying this one

I've been on Litening since I got my phone a couple of weeks ago. Have had no issues at all with it.

I'd suggest using v1.4 initially. He released 1.5 a couple of days agao but pulled it almost immediately after some bugs were found. 1.5 has popped up again this morning, but I'm going to wait a day or two to see if the bugs have been fixed.

yeah any of the guides are good, but don't dive in, enjoy at stock for a while, and get used to it XDA guides are always good, lot of pro's on there

What about this:

http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/

It's currently full but had a look last night and looks great, have a look in a few hours and check it out.

UOT kitchen was the main theme tool for my Desire. Unfortunately I haven't managed to cook one for my SGS2 successfully yet, just keep getting SHTF errors.

Anyone managed to cook successfully yet?

I hate you guys, you gave me the upgrade itch and I bought a Desire, now you've all flown the coop I've got one of these arriving early next week.

Where's the best place to "recycle" my desire?

Mazuma Mobile, they will give £115 for just the handset and battery. you can use the rest of the bits on the GS II.

Received mine earlier.

I was in awe at the size of the box & then I opened it up, I didn't expect it to be so big when looking at the box! Smartly packed up I have to say. First impressions are oh my god! what an amazing piece of kit, I've had a big grin on my face since the moment I saw the box haha. Now I've got it I'm very happy I chose to cancel the Sensation!

It is longer than my iphone 2G but slimmer & weighs loads less I'm really amazed. The screen is fantastic, Coming from a 2G the difference is outstanding. Everything is really quick & fluid. The camera is just stunning too.

I've installed Launcher Pro for now along with Go Weather. Are these good or are there better ones out? The Market is going to take some getting used to that for sure!

I quite like Go Launcher, and beautiful widgets... although I'd go with go weather if it didn't manually require me to input my location and detected it the same way BW does (from ur nearest mast I believe)..

i havn't been this excited about a new tech toy in ages ...

im not even going out for lunch incase i miss the delivery

(and there is someone else here to receive it if i am out)

You will love it I'm sure of it. I wasn't going to get this at all because I hated the look of it from all the pictures on the web, Really did prefer the Sensation looks, But in the flesh it really is beautiful!

It is an amazing piece of kit.

Thanks icehot666 I shall give those a try too :)
