BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Just had a little look about and I find myself in the middle of two boxes

This one is about 200m away from my house

and this is about 320m away

With these distances you think I could get 40mb?

cheers

They say under 500meters shouldn't have a problem getting upto 80mbit.

Decent graph.

I'm down to a 16mb download speed atm, and my line profile seems to have dropped to 23mb after the recent issues with the modem.

But... reading up, it seems the IP profile will be reset within 5 days so will wait it out without touching the Hub.

Oh, and my line profile appears to have crept up to 26mb now.

I was predicted 35.5/7.4 although I am less than 100 meters from cabinet, their estimates are way off atm me thinks.

Go for a mooch.

I wish...

I like the comments on that page. Im not sure how a cabinet invades his privacy. Next they will be complaining their broadband isnt fast enough if they move the cabinet. Bearing in mind its not on their land they havent got any case whatsoever.

I've been trying to order Infinity today without much success. I'm with O2 currently for both broadband and home phone and I'm out of contract for both. Prior to that I was with BT just for home phone and O2 just for broadband, so I have a BT account login for when I had my landline with them.

I have my MAC code and have waited the 7 days required by O2 to avoid the penalty charges. I tried both this morning and this afternoon to place an order with BT for Infinity through the website but it failed both times at checking my postcode, phone number, postal address and type of property (new build flat 7yrs old) and spits out an error ref code CON-0141 with a phone number to call. Both when I called I was told it in the morning it was a website glitch and in the afternoon that they couldn’t help!

Anyone had similar problems getting an order placed?

Probably i'd think.

How do you locate the location of your closest cabinet?

Is this one?

Nope thats a standard cab. Actually on a second look i think thats a Virgin Media Cab, does it say CATV on the manhole covers infront of it?

I'm trying to take advanage of Quidco cashback offer ;)

Yeah I`m gonna do that too £100 nowt to be sniffed at.

Try this, go to the BT Broadband page, choose broadband package, click start the order against the BT Infinity package you want, then click CANCEL.

It takes you back to the package page, then look on left hand side for chat box, go into this and start a chat and an agent comes online.

Tell them you want to order BT Infinity and they will assist you. They may give you a link to start the order process off, dont click this link as it won't include quidco tracking, click on start order again against whatever package you want then if you have any problems you can go back to the chat window and the agent will sort it for you.

In any case if quidco dont pick up the tracking you can always request a claim on their page.

Thanks for the idea but it didn't work. It looks like the BT website is knackered, I'll give it another go in the morning if it doesn't work then I'll place my order over the phone.

Yeah it's good cashback through quidco I'm planning on using it to buy a decent dual band router and ditch the HomeHub.

Yeah you're right mate I should just bell them up and get my MAC code, been nearly 2 weeks now and not been given much information on why my line is unstable. Shame they were great for last three years. :/

Just got BT infinity installed, happy so far max download speeds and very good jitter-less ping of under 10 on some UK servers, its like I am back in uni halls :)
