Hey people, I'm getting the Silver Arrow in a couple of days after reading many reviews and people pushing it to others on the forums. But I just had a quick concern.

Will this CPU cooler fit in a Coolermaster 430 elite case with an Asus M4A87TD EVO mobo?

Thanks for your time :)

there is someone who has recently fitted the silver arrow inside a coolermaster elite 430, and it went in just fine.

the cooler is actually 162.7mm tall, rather than the 160mm displayed at OcUK, but the elite 430 can take up to 163mm coolers. i believe the cooler was touching the side panel for whoever mounted it, but this is not a problem atall (hell, my cooler is touching the side panel of my case)

what RAM do you have, as this could be another issue for fitting it

*edit*
ignore the thing about the gap between the motherboard and the roof. i obviously cant do maths late at night. i would be very surprised if there was less than 1.25cm between your motherboard edge and the roof of the case

Luke De, I had Thermalright Silver Arrow as this is far the best performance overall, better than Noctua NH-D14, with 2 x 140mm fans (maximum spin 1300RPM). I cannot hardly hear any sound from the fans, very very quiet indeed and overclocked my sandybridge i7 2600K @ 4.70GHz @ 1.33vcore after 8 hours prime blend test, maximum temperature is no more than 68C with a room temp of 23C. It much quieter than Noctua fans. Even thought those temp come with a small dot pea sized in the center of the cpu chip from IC Diamond 24 Thermal Compound, I never use Chill Factor III that come with it in the box.

You won't be disappointed but just to remind you, DO NOT USE A PRESSURE VAULT as it would damaged your sandybridge 32nm chip (I never use this bracket myself)

sorry for the noob question, but whats a pressure vault and why would it damage the chip?

also, the OP has an AM3 motherboard, so i doubt he has a sandybridge CPU in there ;)

A pressure vault is to turn more tight in the middle of the cpu for more cooling effect side but all thanks to Helios1234 told me not to bothered to use it. Without it would be fine with sandybridge.

50 pounds per square inch I think it is at max, not even knowing if thats a lot or not, it sounds like a lot.

I fitted the Silver arrow in my Elite 430 and the fans were right up against the side panel and although I could still fit the panel, I decided to go for a HAF 912 instead, as I didn't want any unnecessary pressure being applied to the cpu.

I'm definitely getting it this Monday then, I did some internal measurements myself with the true measurements of the silver arrow. There's enough hight, but it will be slightly touching the side, Ah well =]

My RAM is 2x2GB corsair XMS3, that shouldn't be an issue is it?
Thanks guys!

50pounds per sq inch. Wouldn't like that on my foot :( let alone a cpu
