****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

wow that was good, 20mins on the phone to O2 and they are sending me a new one for door step replacement on MONDAY! good service, so how do i get this one looking like o2 branded again?

you bugger. i have the EXACT same problem. Tmobile say it has to go back to samsung and it could take weeks at best to get sorted.

do you by chance have a case on it? in particular the sline case? I have tested and tested and found that it seems to happen more if i have the case on. i've not noticed the issue without though it's impossible to say as i can't ask the other person if thy can review the call quality.

it also happens where the person on the other end hears a echo of what they say. been told this could be signal but it happens to frequently in different places.

on bluetooth headset all is fine and on loud speaker they don't hear themselves but then struggle to hear me.

can you try recording your voice with the voice recorder or try the sim in another phone? i've done both after being told to be samsung and both are fine so it's the phone, but is it the case? is it the mic? trouble is i need a phone and sending back to samsung isn't really an option, but sticking with this for another 17 months isn't either.

edit: did you buy direct from o2 or a third party? just realised it wasn't tmobile i spoke to but buymobilephones.net. would it be worth calling tmobile even though i got it from someone else?

edit2: on my htc hero i installed a rom which allowed me to control the music player but holding the volume keys. do roms for the samsung do this or free music apps? don't fancy buying poweramp as only really want something that can do this, unless someone can convince me what's so good about poweramp?

mine was o2, and the phone arrived on 25th May, so today by chance was the last day O2 would do a straight swap, otherwise it would have had to go to Samsung.

Have you rooted your phone? i have been googling and found a few people all be it with a diffirent handset had muffled sound after rooting - strange as it sounds.

I would just bite the bullet and get it repaired, seems like it effects a very small amount as little on google about it.

Anyone use some sort of folder in the menu for say games or chat apps etc?

i tried using folders in the app drawer but they are pretty inflexable - you cant sort the items in any particular order for instance (assuming you are using the standard launcher).

so i tried Folder organizer instead. It's an essential app, imo. you can organize apps inside folders in any order you like, you can put folders inside folder, create links to those folders and give them custom icons ect.

Yup I do heavily. In GoLauncher you can sort them in whatever order you want or specify by name/latest/oldest etc.

That and the fact that the icon animations are flawless and look sublime especially on AMOLED if you have a black background.

ThNks I much prefer golauncher to launcher pro. How have you managed to clock yours? Iv not been able to with my rooted stock rom. Iv tried 2 different apps with no joy.

just a shame launcher pro is seriously lacking in features, basics like folders, or paging app drawer instead of vertical scrolling etc...

launcher pro does have folders, but not in the app drawer. folder organizer does folders better anyway so it's not been an issue for me. neither is the app drawer as i never use it - thats what the folders are for. my only criticism is that choosing icons for the dock and shortcuts isnt as flexible as go launcher. for Example I changed the app drawer shortcut to a link to my 'More apps' folder, which is basically everything i havent put in to a proper folder. with go launcher i can use the standard go launcher icon for the app drawer - i cant do that with launcher pro, for some reason the app drawer icon isnt available to choose.

apparently some custom roms (according to the dude that makes villain rom) reckons the quad scores are fixed, and are not 100% yet anyway as they don't fully understand the duel core

I wonder what the hell happened to my phone this morning, I thought it was dead. This morning at 4am, I pressed the home button, the clock and date were there as usual on the lockscreen. But there was no lockscreen, just a completely black background. I tried swiping it, nothing. Pressed the power button and the phone became completely dead, nothing happening, couldn't even get the time and date back. Connected to mains charger, nothing, no icon. Left it overnight till just now. Pressed power button, nothing. Connected to USB, nothing. Took battery cover off, removed sim card ready to put back in my old phone. Removed battery which was firmly in and then put battery back in after a few seconds. Everything fired up fine and it said 100% battery charge since obviously charging overnight.

Something up with the battery connection? It wasn't loose. The fact that I had the clock on screen but no lockscreen background and not swipable, does this suggest a battery problem or a phone issue?

This is a good phone but i'm going to have to sell it, the games are beyond a joke, the battery cant last for more than quarter a day on just standby and a bit of imobsters, think i will go with the iPhone 4.

I think its fare to say most of us encountered some sort of battery problem at some point. mine wasnt lasting a day when i bought it but a few weeks later now it'll do two days on standby easily - last night it used 6% battery in 8 hours. Maybe that's the magical learning capabilities of android (i'm an android newbie who's never owned one before), or maybe its something that has been (at least partially) addressed in recent firmware updates. who knows. However, the sgs2 is a monster of a phone and moving to anything else at this point will see you taking a side step at best.

Also what's the issue with the games?

A quarter of the day? Well you have a rogue app consuming battery then. As for games, there are plenty of excellent games with high quality graphics out. Maybe you've not looked hard enough beyond a quick glance?

The majority of people get at least a full day with moderate usage from the battery. The iPhone 4 is no different.

oh ok so you were lucky it was still in warranty. if i had pulled my finger out my butt mine would have been too but i never did anything until it was 10 days out.

no i haven't rooted the phone.

did you use a case and if so which? my case has been off for a while now and no one mentions it any more
