****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

I Blame robbo for my S2 arriving tommorow :p

eeeek - how many posts to go through here! - I was keeping track of the sensation thread not this one!. Anyone care to summarise any decent info for us who don't want to go wading through 250+ pages of this thread!!!!

i.e. recommended firmware? root method? (if more than one).
Worth using Class 10 SD cards?

etc. thanks in advance

OMG!

Another one :p

im getting the weirdest thing now with calendar sync

if i put an appointment in my outlook or online in google calendar it syncs to my phone

but if i put an appointment in my phone, it syncs with google calendar online but not with outlook

if i put an appointment directly online it will sync with outlook , just not one that has come via my phone into online, that wont go to outlook

Hi everyone,

Just bought this handset and so far have one extremely frustrating issue.

Unfortunately, every image downloaded via the mobile internet is extremely compressed which wasn't the case on my HTC Desire.

This is all Facebook contact pictures, pictures of applications on the market etc.

Is this a stock ROM issue? It has an O2 boot up screen but that's about it when it comes to branding. How do I go about flashing a different ROM and will this fix this issue?

What ROM would you recommend? I don't want any themed rubbish.

This phone is just nuts. I took it on holiday and turned the data and wifi off the whole time and charged it 4-5 times. After a charge it would mostly last 2-3 days which is what I would expect for very light use - but one day it just dropped like a stone to 40% when it was just sat in a drawer (with good reception).

It's done it again today, i've used it a little but it's on 13%

Other days I can quite happily watch 3 hours of videos and still have some juice left at the end of the day.

Were being the key word :p

Mekrel can you post the process you are using to download images? That way we can try replicating it the same way.

It's just when syncing contacts with the Facebook application on the market, or when actually browsing the market, the icons for each application in the list of installed applications look blotchy and so do the screenshot thumbnails when looking at an application on the market.

Weird none of those issues here, try a factory reset? I can only imagine the network provider might have fiddled with stuff maybe if resetting does not fix it

Google contact pictures (and probably other things) do appear low res if the phone imports them, it's just an old bug.

I imagine it's related to that.

was all set to get a S2 over the Arc, but know I have seen the LG Optimus 3D which looks like it could be good.. only 512mb ram

Out of those three the SGSII is a no brainer imo.

The only other phone on the market that is a worthy competitor is the Sensation

Exactly the same here Paul!

I've just done some testing.

Entry to Outlook syncs to Google Calendar and also phone.

Entry to phone syncs to Google Calendar but not to Outlook.

Google Calendar is also only syncing events to my phone calendar from 16th May 2011. Yet oddly, Google Calendar shows it's imported all my events from Outlook from 27th January 2011. Looking at Outlook, 27th January is where my events begin, so Google Calendar is exactly in line with it. Strange then why it's not syncing almost 4 months of events to my phone prior to May.

got my replacement handset today, kept my old battery for a spare ;)

fair play o2, reported the fault at 5pm saturday, had a new handset on my door step at 1pm Monday, and pleased to report i no longer sound muffled!

Hoping someone can help me out with a minor problem please? When using voice input when texting, it wont start the text message with a capital letter even though I have Auto-Capitalization ticked
