Are you actually using the phone for anything or is it just sat there? I find it hard to believe some people when talking about battery life of smart phones.
I'm down to 95% in the hour it takes me to get to work and thats with checking fb/twitter for overnight activity and listening to music the whole time on full whack with poweramp, brightness @ 30%.
Has anyone upgraded to lite'ning rom 1.5 from 1.4 and noticed any benefits?
Also, would I just flash 1.5 on top of 1.4?
lol!! I'm not someone who has the latest phone and then doesnt use it. Half the time its dead within a day, and most often than not, overnight it drains for no reason (prob bec of how many emails I get through work)
In the past I've tried things like BatteryCalibration which did great for me, but still didnt make it "brilliant" - Yesterday I changed routers as BT sent us the new one, so I assume the wifi connection on the old one must have been worse?
Other than that there's not much I can tell you. Best I've had so far (have screenshots) is just over 2days... worst I've had is less than a day so......

Running stock android on a Nexus One it does this so the stock dialler definitely can do it.Do you mean have a single number, then the number of calls in brackets? Don't think the stock dialer can do this, but Go Dialer does.
5% in 10 hours is 0.5% per hour... when left overnight the SGS II loses an average of 0.5-0.8% per hour when it is kept in sleeping with something like Green Power installed to close the connections. You can't be using your phone much, if at all, with a drain that is supposedly less than that.

Your post I replied to said the stock dialer doesn't do it. I was disagreeing saying it does. The one that ships with the sgs2 may not but if you put a rom with the stock dialler on it will. The SGS2 doesn't use the stock Android dialer though.

Exactly the same here Paul!
I've just done some testing.
Entry to Outlook syncs to Google Calendar and also phone.

Entry to phone syncs to Google Calendar but not to Outlook.
Google Calendar is also only syncing events to my phone calendar from 16th May 2011. Yet oddly, Google Calendar shows it's imported all my events from Outlook from 27th January 2011. Looking at Outlook, 27th January is where my events begin, so Google Calendar is exactly in line with it. Strange then why it's not syncing almost 4 months of events to my phone prior to May.
Just picked myself up an S2 after giving up waiting on the iPhone 5 (I figure I already have an iPad, so wanted to keep the variety).
How does one go about rooting these? There doesn't seem to be the usual plethora of of guides on modaco as you have with the HTC stuff. A point in the right direction would be great
Secondly, are there any essential tips/flaws/hidden gems I should be aware of?

Beginning to HATE Kies, all it seems to do is connect when it feels like it and take up 100% system resources. Are there any alternatives I can use?
I don't even use Kies at all. What are you trying to do with it? If your trying to transfer music just create a folder on the phone and then mount the phone and use windows explorer to transfer ur music or videos etc. If your trying to update the firmware just go to XDA and read up about using ODIN.
