****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Use LCD density its free on the market and set it to around 210, makes everything smaller.

It is a big phone but its superior in ever-way to the Sensation I sent mine back as after using this for a few months I thought I would try the Sensation and it actually felt like I was downgrading my phone, screen looks terrible, crap viewing angles, its slow and lags, terrible camera and video and limited by its ram, 1 gb of on board storage instead of 16...... the list goes on lol.

There is a shoot out between the Sensation and the Evo 3d and the Evo is much faster for everyday use and has 1gb of ram, in the review when he cleared the memory it had over 368mb free where as the Sensation has only 130meg free, I think the limited ram will tell in the future on the Sensation.

HTC have been caught napping again as they were by the original GS and they just can't seem to make a decent camera for some reason.

Some people clearly are n't suited to android. There is very very little that can't be changed software wise.

Think I need to sleep on it - i did warn you I'd feel cheated either way I went lol!

On the plus side - Its super frikkin smooth, even my iphone-fanboy mates said its gorgeously smooth unlike any other android phone they've played with.

Camera is absolutely gorgeous and I would use the more than play games or browse the web. Bought the official samsung case for it and now it doesn't keep slipping out of my hands, and makes it feel much more 'sturdier'.

Also turns out the ONLY thing I needed root for was to get rid of the bloatware i.e. social hubs...

Just missing sense interface I guess! - someone hurry up and port a sense rom onto it lol!

If you are rooted you can easily remove the hubs for it using root explorer, other than that there are plenty of good custom roms out which do the same, or try bloat freezer off the market it lets you freeze apps.

What you said your friend said about it being so smooth it simply is the smoothest android phone out the Sensation isn't as smooth as this it always feels a little laggy which annoyed me, there is no excuse with a dual core phone for it to be laggy.

its all your fault! :p

Appreciate the help today btw mate ;)

PS - i'll be buggin you at work tommorow dude - read what I put about T-mobile screwing me over in the sensation thread ;)

i think some of you are to fussy, i have not come across something that i cant change.

the lock screen is naff... so i changed it to a pattern.

i hate all the bloatware so i removed it.

other apps i just replaced with free or paid ones on the market

One thing you can't change is when the PIN lock kicks in, I have been delaying PIN lock on phones for years but they failed to bother on the samsung. Its not even like you can fix it with widget locker. I dare say there is something out there app wise but when you are talking about PIN lock security it really needs to be hard wired into the device.

annoying isn't it. I might be wrong but is this a change made in android?

Been with mine for 4 days now and just picked up my old iphone and had a go at Angry Birds.

I put it straight back down again. It looked merde and it sounded merde.

Android is hard work and TBH the ads with "everything" is a chore and yes it's a Samsung and yes it feels cheap and nasty to hold and use but hey it's a phone and it's rather good at being a "phone" and the fact that it does games rather well? Well. I like it a lot for that.

Go steam up your shower/bath room, like totally steamy. Close everything, let the steam settle, the quickly work on getting the protector applied. The steam will catch all the dust and settle it on surfaces, making it much easier.

Hey that worked brilliantly!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much for the suggestion, can't even tell the screen protector is on the phone now!! Superb :D

Change it to a easy unlock pattern and it's an irrelevance. Mine is just a flick of my finger.

The pattern lock is too easy to crack, especially if you use such a simple pattern. Even if you use a complicated one the pattern can be visible on the screen if you don't wipe the glass constantly. Tend to see the finger marks.

I need more security than that i'm affraid.

why ? setup samsung remote software if you loose the phone wipe it.

And if for any reason you don't realise you have lost it for a length of time anyone deciding they would like it to be their new phone get access to all my personal infomation and the rest..

It doesn't matter to me now anyway as I have a Sensation which works right out the box! :D

When it comes to the two phones, you either choose the one with poorer hardware or poorer software.

I know which is easier to fix when it comes to Android.

Well, as I said in my post, not everything that bugs me is replaceable such as the call screen.

Pattern? Try connecting your phone to your work exchange server that enforces a pin code lock for security reasons.

It's not superior in every way though, I don't think anyone can honestly say hand on heart that HTC Sense isn't the best manufacturer overlay out there. It looks better and is more functional. It's a bit of a resource hog though, but I ran Sense 3.0 on my Desire from the SDCard so I'm struggling to believe the Sensation lags. I'm hoping O2 will let me play with one tomorrow, or CPW have a live model out.

As for viewing angles, really? You care about viewing angles on a mobile phone? It's not a TV that needs to cater for people sitting at different angles on a sofa. The only thing that will annoy me about the HTC Sensation is if it's as bad in sunlight as my HTC Desire was and I read on Paul O'Brian's Twitter that it is worse in sunlight than the GS2...

The memory is an issue for me, I do find it silly how HTC only have 1Gb of inbuilt storage versus 16 on the Galaxy S2.

The camera really ins't terrible on the Sensation, if anything, the colour representation is slightly off but it's far from terrible from what I've read.

HTC have hardly been caught napping, their growth performance is extremely impression as is Samsungs however, in terms of hardware of their flag ship models, Samsung is definitely paving the way.

It's almost like there's not perfect match, Samsung hardware with a HTC ROM would be absolute perfection.

A Sense ROM? I'd have some words to say about that :p

What's the beef with the call screen? It's a loosely modified version to the stock Android call screen which is pretty usable and pretty neutral at that too. I know one thing though, Sense doesn't allow you to fully control your active call from the notification tray when you're in another app like the browser or whatever so you can truly multitask during a call.

Hey that worked brilliantly!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much for the suggestion, can't even tell the screen protector is on the phone now!! Superb :D

Ive used screen protectors for years... Normally I've always put one on the phone before using the phone itself. Today I decided to swap for a new one, though the stupid things didnt fit properly so I removed it.

Having said that.... This is now the first time I've touched a screen without a protector on, and............ its sooooooooooo much silkier to the touch... I'm going to leave it off :D

I had the Sensation to keep but after using it for a week there was no reason to keep it I already had the far better phone, none of my mates who have htc phones liked the Sensation and utterly disappointed with the bad video/camera which htc can't get right, one of them has a Desire hd the other a desire and they both said they wouldn't upgrade to it.

A sense rom on GS2 ? I would pass on that sense is nothing special now, there are plenty of better launchers on the market that don't eat all the ram, not that ram is a issue on this phone ;).
