The screen whilst very vivid and bright isn't all that great because there are very distinct grain/lines to images on the screen.
you mean the colour banding? i must admit its pretty obvious if you are looking for it. most of the time i dont notice it though, not on photos or video and not on many apps that i can think of
The lock screen really is just awful, it looks awful and the ergonomics of it is even worse. The amount of times I've had to try and unlock the device multiple times because you really have to drag the whole lock screen picture to the edge of the screen and either my finger has slipped or I haven't quite held it close enough to the edge.
I've bought Widget locker, but this is just a work around and has flaws such as any button will unlock the device due to using root mode, which is a must to get around the 5 second pause bug.
I'm not sure i understand this 'bug'. the 5 second pause bug only applies i think if you press home/lock/home quickly. All i can tell you is i dont encouter this big and only the home and lock buttons wake my sgs2 up. No hardware buttons unlock my phone
The email client is actually better than I expected, you CAN set out of office messages but I absolutely hate the black background and white text. It just looks unpolished and nowhere near as professional and crisp as HTC Sense.
there is plenty of free alternatives out there and some very good paid software. I'm not sure if that counts as a reason to send the phone back however? seems like a minor details when its something so easy to change
I'm using GO Launcher, GO SMS and GO Dialler and I think these are brilliant applications, functional and look great. The issue is, once you call someone you end up at the horrible Samsung caller screen that's a gradient between red and black...
For its drawbacks, i still prefer launcher pro as it's smoother on my phone, but i do use Go SMS and dialer. As for the caller screen, yeah i dont like it either. Again though, that's really pushing it as a reason to send it back? i'm not bothered as the phone is unsurprisingly not in front of me when im calling somebody - i just dont care enough to look for an alternative
Gradients just remind me of amateur web designers when they've downloaded their first copy of Photoshop from a warez site.
as above really, not interested in the colour of a screen i never look at.
The hardware is exceptional, picture quality is brilliant but I'm not a massive gamer and I only really enjoy casual games like Cut The Rope and Angry Birds which I believe the HTC Sensation is more than capable of handling.
I also have some sort of issue with image quality, I know Facebook pictures are usually compressed until you open them in full view but even icons and screenshots on the Android Market look very blotchy. I think this could be down to APN settings though, I've not changed tariff or SIM as I bought the handset outright. Maybe the phone has set me up on a different APN that O2 are using to save people hammering their mobile net by compressing content? Who knows.
yes that is probably your apn settings. unless you fix them you'll probably have the same problem with the sensation as its nothing to do with the phone
I don't know, I'm torn, I've told myself to ignore the cosmetic issues with the UI but it just doesn't feel like a polished device to me.
They seem like very small problems (and not all down to the phone) to warrant switching to the sensation. I think think you're going to gain much but if you like a phone that's more polished but slightly behind specs-wise then maybe the sensation is for you. I wouldnt though, i bought an android phone to tinker. I knew there would be some changes that i'd make (and in fact ive changed the rom {lite-ning rom}, the contact app, lock screen, messenging apps, the launcher...just about everything, and i wouldnt change it at all
Unfortunately MUIU isn't really available in useable form for this phone, as that UI is much better and consistent...
