Damn my hesitation!!

Don't forget to add on the cost of a replacement car while yours is getting the work done.

I really should, but the bodyshop is local and the job shouldn't take longer than a day.

Have you been injured in an accident that wasn't your fault?

heh :p

As a Slough resident, standard procedure here is to stagger from the car clutching the back of my neck, but defrauding insurance for fake injuries isn't my style.

Why not go through insurance? Just hope that the repair just is flawless.

Well its a good question - the main reason is that I trust the bodyshop to do a good job, and even though its not my fault, its still nevertheless a claim, and I don't want to give any insurer the opportunity to increase my premium next time around.

It's not a claim on your insurance though, is it?
You shouldn't even notify your insurer.

Doesnt matter. Someone hit me last year when I wasnt even in the car. My premium went up, when I asked why they said it was the "Risk factor" A-holes

Your car insurance went up even though you weren't in the car when you got hit? Were you walking?

This happened to my mate. He was in bed asleep which makes him a risky driver becasue a drunken kid on a joyride carved a path of destruction down his road.

Very unfair IMO

Insurance isn't just about how safe or risky a driver you are. It's about how risky the idea of you owning and using a car is. Stats show that people who are in non fault accidents, have more accidents, and thus should pay more.

It's likely because a lot of non fault accidents could've been avoided by the party not at fault being a more proficient driver.

Exactly, your mate should learn to park more safely, or at least invest in a set of concrete barriers or armed security guards to protect his car when he parks, it's his responsibility to take reasonable measures to park in a way which doesn't obstruct traffic!

Or perhaps it's just insurance companies using any excuse to extort more money out of people.

Nice....
