Like someone else said, it only appears abit mediocre because most people here probably own most/all of the titles which get the biggest discounts already. The sale about 3 years ago at christmas was the "best" for me due to picking up tonnes of very cheap games I'd wanted for a while for example, but I still have picked up some bargains this time.

I know what you mean, the first hour doesn't grab you because the mechanics are deep, so many units, so many different things going on. It just takes a bit of time and patience to get used to the game but it's worth it.
It's most definitely a grower, if you're a fan of this style and genre I'd give it another crack and try a co-op game.
Check out the official forum and wiki for lots more help and active players, including the devs who are actively posting and updating it (still).
Your seriously missing out, stick some quality mods to STALKER and its one of the best games out there....

Not installed L.U.R.K but from the screenshots it takes away the eerie feel vanilla gives off. Still Awesome game though

I have just started playing it too. To be fair, after an hour he will still probably be in Sequence 1 which consists mostly of delivering letters, running into people and lugging around boxes for Leonardo Da Vinci.
It improves a lot after that.
I lost my internet connection the other day
so I thought I'd play a single player gmae - so fired up AC2 on the 360 - and I agree - I played 2-3 hrs worth and was bored rigid
finding feathers, collecting gold etc - bored bored bored
I've just bought it as here in New Zealand Shift 2 is still $100, so for $40 I get 4 games! Shift 2 is kinda fun... Arcady still but beautiful graphics and some good old school tracks.
Looks like the first day I will purchase anything this sale, looking at Wings of Prey, Deus Ex and AI war, already have some Stalker game, can't remember which, that I bought as part of the THQ pack at Christmas but I'm yet to install and play it.

I've been playing video games since they were invented back in the '70's so any game has to go along way to impress me.
AC2 might be a decent game, but I don't want it to let me spend the first hour of the game not letting me do anything other than following on screen instructions or making me watch unskipable, very tedious, poorly acted, poorly animated boring cut scenes. If that's the sort of game I wanted to play, then I'd still be playing Dragons Lair on laser disk.
So after sticking through all the crap at the start for as long as I could bare and still not being able to do jack **** other than what the game makes me do. I've decided that it aint worth anymore of my limited gaming time.
I Think COD4 is the same at the start
yes been trying that but somethings goosed, it says its sent me the code(first time signing in with this mobo) to my email address when signing in on the site however i have not received it and usually do within seconds
