****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

yup - mine is rooted fine- use the CLK-KF3 root file though - not the one you were using for KE7 ;)

i simply flashed the new OS, then flashed the CLK-KF3 file. I didn't bother re-flashing the stock kernel as the Yellow triangle doesn't bother me.

Hi, just wondering if anyone can suggest a good place for a deal on this phone.

I'm currently with TMobile, my phone (G1) was up for an upgrade after its 18 month contract not the april just gone, but the april before. Tmobile wanted £160 to upgrade the phone on my current contract. Emailed them and asked if they could do it for free as I've been with them for so long and the reply I get is "well, what we'll do is pretend you are new to tmobile and give you the new customer deal" which is:

A new 24 months contract
900 minutes
500 text messages
A free of charge flexible booster (choice of unlimited text messages, unlimited calls to T-Mobile numbers or unlimited calls to landline numbers)
Unlimited internet
The Samsung Galaxy S II free of charge
£35.75 inc VAT monthly plan charge

Now, its what I pay already similar package with free internet and texts (free flexible booster) rarely use over 100 mins a month. I'm a bit peeved that basically, the 30+ months I've been with them this is the best they can do.

Can anyone suggest anywhere else to try?

Try buymobilephones.net dude - I got mine from there for £19.99 (Cashback from topcashback of £30 too!) - on £30 pm 18mnth contract - 600mins, 500texts, unlimited internet booster. I complained about internet access speeds so they (T-mobile) removed the cap and gave me a free unlimited texts booster for the inconvenience ;)

Hmmmm,, i think i want one of these...... Might have to give up the iP4.

Not had an Android phone since the Nexus about a year ago, Has much changed?

Are they easy to root?

Hows the battery? My old Nexus was terrible on battery, which is why i got rid....

id say the battery life is the weakness for me and a few others other than that its really sweet :)

My battery is great after freezing all the background crap and if I avoid using poorly coded apps (Grand Prix Story makes the cpu run at full pelt, serious drain and heat!).

In terms of software not much has changed, this just runs it really really fast/smooth :D

To root now it's a 'simple' case (once you're used to a tool called Odin) of flashing the CF-Root kernel, takes about 2 minutes and job done.

Battery seems to vary between excellent and awful due to 'bugs/apps' causing the phone to not sleep, personally I've had this once since the end of April.

When it's working normally my idle usage (so phone on desk, screen off, syncing 2 gmail apps, wifi and gps on etc etc) is about 0.6-0.8% per hour,

Over the course of my usual day which is a few texts/emails between 5:30 when I take it off charge, then usually some gaming/phone calls after I get home from work around 17:00 ish I end up with 60-70% left at the end of the day, I always charge that up but I'm confident I could last 2 full days easily, probably well into a third as well.

Saying that if you're using it constantly and heavily it's quite doable to drain the battery in around 10 hours.

Ordered this yesterday, so am hoping for delivery either tomorrow or Monday/Tuesday, from T-Mobile.

Got it through Quidco as well, so £150 cashback for me :D (deal is on for 7 more days if anyone else is interested). Will be a change from my HTC Desire, however I'm unsure about rooting - I don't think I need it just yet. However, if I do decide to, it seems to be fairly simple :)

Looking forward to having a proper play, not just an idle tinker in the phone shop.

Anyone help me with Copilot Live 8? On Tomtom, if I wanted to occasionally check my route, I'd press the bottom of the screen, then browse directions, and it would show me my turn by turn with text and roundabout icons.

With Copilot, it seems I have to do this procedure:

Menu/Press Right/Plan or Edit/Show Route/Press OK/(it calculates the route again that it already calculated)/Press Preview

Then finally it shows the Turns List, Turns Map and Route Demo. Must be a faster way to access it?

Whats the deal?

On quidco I saw £150 back from T mobile pay monthly.

So you get 900 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited web with no FUP.

Phone is £200 so it works out as 50 after cash back?

Also to get quidco to track, do I just click the link on quidco and then anything I do will automatically track if I navigate around the T mobile website or is there a special way?

random pic, can zoom into the focused grass and see the detail of each blade. Quite impressive tbh :)

The battery on this is very good but it isn't as good as the iPhone 4.

This is more than made up for by the fact you can change the battery in the SGS2. I've ordered a spare battery and dock, we used to have a permanently charged Desire battery for me or the other half to use when we forgot to charge. A life saver if you forget to charge overnight and are going out for the day.

Anyway, I've loved my first week with the SGS2, in fact we are getting another one tomorrow my missus likes it so much!
