PS3 Vs Xbox exlcusives

It wasn't supposed to be a like for like comparison, just a brief list of titles taken out of my head which i've played and which i didnt like / prefer others for whatever reason.

Fair enough. :)

I just thought if you were doing like for like comparisons you would've chosen the more obvious ones. I think the three biggest exclusives on 360 are probably Halo, Gears of War and Forza. Unfortunately I don't like Halo, I've tried Halo 3, ODST, Reach and then to mix things up a bit I tried Halo Wars and I just can't get on with them. It's too cartoony and too arcadey for me to get any enjoyment out of. :(

I haven't played much of Gears of War, had a few goes on my sisters version but it didn't really suck me in at all, and I hate the oversized power armour macho styling. I haven't really given it a fair shot, so I guess I can't say whether it's a great game or a bad game, but from my short play it isn't a game I'd spend money on.

As for Forza it's enjoyable, it looks great, the cars sound great and there's loads of tuning and upgrade options but I just prefer GT5. I grew up with Sony consoles and spending years and years playing Gran Turismo I love all the original tracks on that, whereas the Forza original tracks bore the hell out of me. That's just my personal preference and like somebody above said I'd buy the game based on whether I enjoyed the demo or the genre, and not on how many copies it's sold or who is publishing it.

Re: Gears, its the story which i like, now anyway..
Initially it was all about the brutality :p but i think it has an awesome back story to it which is starting to take shape.

Never been able to get into Sony's consoles, PS1 aside (Well, FF7 anyway), yet i still end up buying them anyway =/ sucker i am.

I like all of these things to be quite honest, which is why I think having both consoles is a must for any console gamer.

YES!!!

(second time I've replied to one of your posts with that response, it's like you're stealing my thoughts  ..........)

i own both consoles and enoy the gears of war and killzone games on the 2 different platforms but i do use my ps3 more due to my 360 being a launch model that is loud. i do like the party chat feature on live wish they would get something similar on psn but i doubt it will happen now .

this generation of consoles has been good but the game which has jumped out more than any other is heavy rain i thought it was brilliant from start to finish and a fresh idea for developers compared to other devs cash cows:D

360 started out much stronger but right now the PS3 has the stronger exclusives IMHO. I have no real interest in the MGS and GTs of the world as I think they're horrifically overated, but I really wish I could play God of War, Uncharted and Infamous. The 360 had its day but the cupboard is a bit bare right now.

Ahh God of War, another one i forgot to mention.
Okay game but preferred Bayonetta in all honesty.

Ahhh metacritic, nuff said. Really, there's nothing in those scores what so ever. A couple of % could easily be influenced by external factors. Not to mention the way games are 'reviewed' is all subjective anyway.
"Hmmm, i like this audio track, i think ill give it ... 95/100 for Audio"

And there we have it. EXACTLY why such comparisons are pointless.

Thread is useless.

Why do PS3 only owners always automatically discount all the Kinect exclusives and all the XBLA exclusives?

How many of those do you honestly think are in the top 10 exclusives list? Shadow Complex is the best game i've played on the 360 though, and that's not a jab at the 360, it's one of the best games i've ever played. Despite that i seriously doubt it's anywhere near the highest revenue titles on the 360.

Also, i'm not a 'PS3 owner', i'm a console owner, all three to be precise. :p

As i see it the 360 has 3 main 1st party (Halo, Forza and Fable) franchises and 1 main 3rd party exclusive (Gears series). Gears and Halo are in the Shooter genre which we know is the biggest and sell the most to the core console gamer. Forza sells well, as does Fable but not like the other big 2 franchise 360 games. Sony on the other hand have more 1st/2nd party exclusive franchise games, but only MGS4 is their only real big 3rd party exclusive game. These cover far more genres of games but they dont all have the big pull as say a Halo or a Gears game, quality doesnt always matter to make a game sell well in many cases (not saying gears or Halo arent). Personally i havent played 1 360 exclusive game that would make me want to buy the console just for that game, but its worth it for the great XBLA games and having the ability to play all its exclusive games. Same for the PS3, i bought one on the strength of all the PS games and not just for one exclusive.

I was going to say there for a moment the thread had taken a funny path but I think it probably played out as everyone expected.

I think the main thing that puzzles me about the statistics is not X game is better than Y game or console. Just that the percentage sold one vs the other seems out of whack compared to multi-platform titles.

Multi-platform sales differences are about what I would expect given the fact that both consoles are neck and neck sales wise at the moment but XBOX had a lead for a long time.

Just not really getting why if PS3 exclusives are so good (score wise and according to people in this thread) why they have sold so much less than multi-platform titles.

Had a 360, sold and part exchanged it for a PS3 and never looked back.

Half of the 360's so called 'exclusives' aren't really exclusive if they're on a PC now, are they? Only game on the 360 i'd like to play is Gears Of War and that's it. All the other ones are abysmal, hence having a PS3 for things like Uncharted, Killzone and many, many more amazing games.

Generally because the majority of the best PS3 exclusives aren't FPS which, I think it's fair to say, is the dominant genre of this gen by one hell of a margin.

What proportion of the gaming market would take a gamble on a Demon's Souls or Valkyria Chronicles?

Halo got a foothold long ago as being great for online multiplayer, and as such, has always been a mass seller. Multiplayer these days seems to sell games much more than a great story.
