****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

nope.

i'm getting better battery life using KF3....

24hours with normal use it's at 92%

Blimey, that's really good. What do you call normal use though? I'm on stock everything, 2.3.3 and KE7 I think it is, and get very good idle time on the battery with only minimal use, around 3 days recently. But if normal use after 24 hours includes email, wifi, phone calls and a bit of this and that, and you're still at 92%, that's amazing! You're averaging 1% battery drop per 3 hours with usage. I can get about 1% drop per 3 hours but only if completely idle.

That sounds a little bit too good to be true to me, unless it's in airplane mode and the screen never gets turned on, you aren't going to get 0.3% drain per hour. Even then, you might be pushing it.

Unless anyone wants to prove me wrong?

I agree it really frustrates me how many people try to do some weird itunes style syncing with it..... just use it as a drive and copy your mp3s to it!

no offense but your attitude is as bad as iphone users in this case.

i prefer just mounting a drive and chucking stuff on there but every now and then it's nice just using doubletwist to sync with a playlist

Can anyone confirm if their volume buttons are working when the FM radio is playing and the screen is off. I'm having to unlock the phone first for them to work. Works fine when music plays, the problem only occurs with the FM radio.
can confirm just that, got it on at the minute

You can sync iTunes playlists to Android (even over the air) with various available apps like isyncr.
I got rid of the iPhone so that I could get rid of iTunes too! and simply dropping the playlist file wouldn't work for me - due to me sometimes having a couple different encodings of the same album. So if I were to move the artist or just album across, it may contain the FLAC and a V0 or 320 encodes within. Much wasted space on a small device ;)

normal use for me is checking forums , sending some sms, look at some pics...

i don't use it to call.

i've said above what i used within them 24hours.

the only thing i don't say is how long i used it for.

also i'm really not bothered if u believe me or not.

So you've had the screen on (presumably :p), done some web browsing, sent and received some SMS (I'm assuming you're on wifi and have a network signal), looked at some pictures, and the speaker would probably have been active for some of that time for the messages, etc.

How long has the display been on for?

An average drain of 0.3% per hour is just not realistic unless the battery readings are way off.

Maybe you have a prototype with a special battery in? ;)

Not to worry though :)

Thanks. Worked out what it was though. I have Player Pro setup so that the volume buttons change track when the screen is off. Unfortunately, this also means the volume buttons don't work for the FM radio when the screen is off, even if there is no Player Pro process running. Bit of a pain but can live with it.

quick question - is there a way for the gs2 to handle mouse over things on web pages since it doesn't have a trackball? one thing I miss from my desire was that I could move the cursor over a popup and it would behave as it would on a PC but thus far there doesn't seem to be a way to achieve this on the gs2

Download Battery Graph form the market so you can record it and we can see it for ourselves, will be itneresting for comparison purposes. :)

wifi was on while web browsing after finished doing that i turn it off then sent some sms. i don't keep the wifi on all the time...

also after finishing using the phone i clear the ram to close background programs

This phone appeared suddenly on Virgin mobile this morning so I've ordered it. £30 per month, free phone, 1000 minutes, 'unlimited' texts (3,000) and what they call 'unlimited' internet which is actually 1GB. How quickly will that 1GB be used up? I've never had a Smart phone B4.

Not to pleased about the 24 month contract but anything shorter was more per month and paying for the phone as well which i didn't want to do.

you will be fine 1gb is ample, i only have 500mb and not once in 2 years wit smart phones have i ever gone over that, normally around 350/400mb per month. just do your updates on wifi, but saying that with 1gb you can do then over 3g :)

24month sucks, but i presume u upgraded and wanted to stay with virgin?

I'm having a hard time believing a lot of peoples battery stats to be honest. Mine will last around 18 hours IF i'm using it so:

20mins browsing web/market on break
20-25mins on a game
about 10 - 15 texts
1 phone call for about 4 minutes
couple of checks of facebook & google+ a day
20 - 40mins of music
Screen brightness on automatic
Wifi on
Data off

by around the 18hour point it is sitting on 10% battery. Doesn't bother me though, But I wonder how long it would last if I cut out the music/browsing/gaming/fb.

Turn automatic screen brightness off dude, it actually uses more battery than just selecting a mid-level brightness.
