Metal Music Absolutely..........SUCKS

I didn't want to reply to this thread with such little posts with the fear of being considered a troll but I am really offended by the OP's comments.

I listen to almost every genre of music almost all types of rock and metal, house, dance and trance, etc. I dont listen to what I consider to be black music which is r&b, hiphop and rap but I dont partucularly dislike them and would not turn it off if it came on my radio. There are 3 types of music however that I particularly dont like. They are pop, happy harcore, and dubstep and my guess is that the OP listens to one or both of the latter 2. None of which can be considered music.

Happy Harcore
Dubstep

And just for the benefit of the OP here is a new metal song that has been released by Korn which is a collaboration between them and skrillex which you might like. My guess is that most true metal fans wont like it but I dont dislike it as im open minded

All I can say is if you like the garbage in the first 2 videos stop slating metal music because your choice of music is just as bad if not worse!

EDIT: james.millers point taken on board and a more friendly statement :)

I got into them due to Attila when he was the vocalist for Aborym.

EDIT - another for the BaN fan/newb, late night jamz with some weird French dudes. Black metal with whispers?!

They're really good at what they do, although some of their albums are pretty straightforward (see above) and some are particularly inaccessible (see MoRT).

Sunn is all about the live experience i've seen them live 4 times now twice with Attila once with Malefic of Xastur and once just the two of them playing Grimm Robes entirely.

i pretty much agreed with everything you said up to this point.

This statement make you a hypocrite or at best, as bad as the op is.

There are comparisons that can be made between dubstep, hard dance and the harder metal sub genres and that is that to other people they can sound like a wall of unnecessary noise. That's fine but to then go and and say 'my wall of noise is better than your wall of noise so gtfo' is honestly hilarious.

I chuckled a little when I read his post.

As much as I love most genres of Rock and Metal, I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy Drum And Bass, Chiptune, Dance/Trance and a few other things.

Some Rap/Hip Hop is good, few and far between for me though.

That Happy Hardcore song isn't to bad, I wouldn't go out of my way to search for it though. Seems quite weak for a Happy Hardcore song. Some Dubstep is good in short bursts but that collab with Skrillex and KoRn isn't my thing but I did enjoy Pendulum and In Flames collab song.

I couldn't stick to listening to one type of music, if I did it would be Metal but I'm not in that situation :D

<3 <3 <3 <3 Hardcore Punk. Unfortunately GOAT are no-more.
Yeah, sucks :(. I'm hoping I'll get to see them at Hevy for their last gig. They were ace at Sonisphere last year.

I like both dubstep and metal, what does that make me?

some kind of weird not-from-this dimention alien thing, perhaps :p

i like lots of music. Infact i like pretty much anything in small doses, though my favorites are definitely more rooted in metal/rock than anything else. As an example, I have classical music in my collection (on sacd, no less!) yet i also have been known to listen to some real heavy stuff and everything inbetween. I've been to see these guys a few times, for example:

The band are friends of a friend. Nice guys :)

I love it when people say "no you're wrong music A is great, if you listen to music B then you're an idiot"

Seriously read what you're saying, how is that any different to what the OP has done?

If anyone dismisses an entire genre of music like that then you are ignorant.

Most people here have not done that. Sure some have, but most have explained why they like it and posted videos to provide a different style of metal compared to what the OP mentioned.

To be fair. Listening to that Korn song it seems that Dubstep and Metal can go hand in hand to a certain extent.

I have already stated im open minded when it comes to most things. I would not go out of my way to start a thread about a genre I hate and want to annoy everyone that listens to said genre. I just felt I needed to respond to the thread as the OPs comments were annoying me

But yeah you must be alien or something :D

I hate the way you seemingly have to fall into a liking a category of music. It makes no sense.

Im listening to 2pac as i type this and this time last week i was at the Sonisphere festival which was absolutely rocking!

Im not hugely into metal but Metallica, Biffy, Bad Religion, Airbourne, The Answer etc etc were absolutely fantastic and a more friendly bunch of music fans you couldnt wish to meet over the 3 days.

I love loads of different types of music and to me its either a good tune or it isnt. I think some of 2pacs stuff is absolute genius but it doesnt mean i dont think Wait and Bleed isnt a great song too!!!

A friend recommended some Meshuggah about 3 years ago. At first I was like the OP - "I don't like this screaming. Where's the melody? Why is it so dissonant? What are these artificial groupings about? Where's the normal verse/chorus/verse/bridge... structure?". (That last one is a lie actually, but I imagine the OP feels it.) Now though they're one of my favourite bands, if only for the meticulous and complex riffs.

Most metal is actually musically pretty "advanced". This sounds pretentious but it's true, and until you've developed your appreciation it sounds like crap.

Yeah - I don't really 'get' the death metal unintelligable mangled 'singing' music thing either however the likes of Tool, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Firewind, Flaw, Stone Sour etc I can listen to all day.

EDIT: Well old Metallica anyway - their new stuff sucks a dogs furry pair...

I believe that the trick is not liking everything out there, but accepting and understand why other people do. If you get that, you get music. it all boils down to sound and how that sound appeals to different people. A bit like country music, i really dont like it. But i get it, and i get why other people do.

I dont understand people who limit themselves to such a tiny range of music. My gf is like this, and that's something i just dont get.

Agree 100%

Some more

METAL!!! Ron is the man.

The above is pure talent, cohesive and immersive. People who say metal sucks are simple. Fact.

Oh undoubtedly and I like a massive range of music as well - I was a DJ for 10 years or so, grew up with Queen, Elton John, REM. Still thrash out old grunge like Screaming Trees, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains. I unashamedly love 80's music and I'm a complete sucker for old techno like FSOL, Orbital, the Orb. Love Drum n Bass, Dubstep. I'll even bust out some predictable classical music like Vivaldi and the like. I appreciate good music for what it is.

In many ways I can see some attraction in the music that is played in thrash and death metal but the gutteral growling thing where you can't understand them at all unless you're following the lyrics (the deep and well thought out things they tend to be... ahem... entrails ripped from a... yeeeaaaah okey dokey then) I do not get. It strikes me a trying a bit to hard to be... hard...

I do like some growling style of music, like Pantera or Killswitch Engage... but then you can understand them...
