And you fell straight into my trap - nice one.

what trap? all that is good music imo, trying to say hit em up is not a good song? the no.1 rated rap "diss" tune of all time.

rather than than System of a Downy

I actually think all of B&W's comments and responses to them should be removed from this thread and it should be renamed to 'the metal thread' or something as there's actually some good music in here.

- Money Run Things great song

Great song 2pac hit em up

Mr loverman -
- great song

- great song

I thought your post was serious until you posted that, as others have said apart from 2pac i cant understand a word and its utter drivel.

Don't get me wrong there is quite a lot of metal I cant listen to as well but that stuff you posted is for 13 year old wannabe gangsters.

Like every genre you have sub genres, you also have good music and **** music, but everyone has there own tastes.

How you can completely dismiss it is phenomenal, i'm not a huge metal fan myself, but I grew up listening to Metallica, Korn, Rage, Pantera, Rammstein, Slayer, Anthrax, Overkill, Lamb of God.

Or the original heavy metal band. Led ****ing Zeppelin.

But this got me thinking heavy metal has changed over the years hasn't it would SOAD be considered Metal, they could be right.

Honestly I hate the screaming and growling down the mic, it does nothing for me, i've listened to it and I try to drown out the vocals cause in these bands they really do have some talented drummers and guitarists.

Ether is the best diss record of all time. Even KRS Ones The Bridge is over is better, he made a diss record that ended Shans career, but I guess you probably don't know who KRS One is anyway.

That's the trap - you actually posted something that you think is good compared to Metal.
I have nothing against anything you posted but I have quite an eclectic taste.
The Snow video above is one of the best songs I've ever heard but so is Slayer's Reign In Blood.

There are two things I've learnt in my long life to not cause a fight:
1) Never **** a mans car off
2) never **** a mans taste in music.

The closest I have ever come to a fight is a couple of times when somebody would walk up to me in a Club where I was gigging and ask for a song by somebody I thought was crap and I'd start to laugh and **** the artist off.
After that happened a couple of times in the early 70s I learnt never again to **** somebody elses musical taste off (unless it's Bon Jovi).

Also....WOAAAAAH we're half way there, WOAHHHHHHHHH living on a prayer ;)

Metal is like most genres of music: you aren't going to like decapitated the first time you hear them. It's a gradual progression, something like: greenday->black sabbath->iron maiden->metallica->slayer->decapitated.

It would be the same with jazz, I'm not going to like hardcore jazz, but if I start with something accessible I can work my way up.

That's my theory theory anyway. I thought I would have grown-out of metal, but I can't get enough! :D

I find it ironic that quite a few of the tracks being posted by people in this thread, in defence of the metal genre, contain elements that are precisely what the OP was complaining about in the first place. Of course, there's nothing wrong with liking such types of metal, but I wish people would take some effort to discover the less obvious types of metal of which there is an amazing rich amount and variety of, out there.

The examples above are only the tip of the iceberg, the genre is incredibly diverse, yet always has that 'metal' sound. Listen to the last track especially, and then tell me that metal isn't 'music' and just lots of noise.

Hit em up is a great tune but at the end of the day its nothing more than a b-side which grew legs because of its lyrical content. Based on what actually happened in real life of course its going to be high profile.

I dont see why saying Hit em up is a good song means you cant like System Of A Down who have some great songs too.
