What a random post to quote. That was nearly a month ago

I'd be very surprised if Spearing was allowed to leave on loan though. Assuming that Poulsen leaves (Spearing's better than him too), we'd be without any cover for Lucas in the DM position. Ultimately he's not quite good enough but at the moment he's a hand squad player. He'll be content with being 5th (or even 6th) choice CM and you wouldn't worry too much if he had to play.

Maybe if a decent permanent offer came in he'd be allowed to leave but there's little advantage to us in loaning him out.

More Barca

I hope a lot of what Xavi says is lost in translation and that is why it comes across so badly, but to say he cannot understand criticism of him being disrespectful because he was "only acting in the best interest of Cesc and Barca" is bizarre.

Not really, quite a few stories lately pointing out the utter hypocrisy of Wenger, who routinely talks about other clubs players, footie365 with a list of comments he made about Chamakh before he was an Arsenal player, anything up to what 8 months before the transfer happened, while at the same time having a go at anyone who talks about his players.

What did Xavi do, reporters hound him as much as any other footballer, they ask questions, they ask about Cesc, Xavi replies, whats the issue? He should lie and say Cesc loves being in limbo between two clubs?

Of all the things to get upset about, a player saying they'd love another player at their club is ridiculous to get upset about.

Not least because our manager and most of the squad consistantly make the same types of comments about other players at other clubs.

Xavi says "Arsenal are rubbish, Cesc hates London, wants to kill Wenger and is desparate to leave Arsenal asap" not great,

Xavi says "Cesc loves Barca and is upset about being caught between the two clubs and just wants to move home to be with his family and friends, and has waited years for this move........" just not seeing it, nor the arrogance.

All clubs, all managers, all players make these same kinds of comments and it is becoming ridiculous how people react to them, your Redknapps(making public bids for anyone between the age of 3-84 who is a striker) complaining when someone makes a bid for his players, Arsenal who seem to massively over react to every single story about their players, etc, etc. Get over it.

it was one of the last mentioning Spearings name. With it being such a massive transfer story :p, I wanted to make sure nobody else had mentioned it!

Sounds like he could be alright for a lower prem team then!

Wenger hasn't made a major issue of Xavis' comments though. All of this is based on a few sentences Wenger spoke at a press conference in Asia when he was asked to respond to Xavi's comments. I haven't heard him say anything about it since then.

Also, can you show me some quotes of a current Arsenal player making similar comments about another club's players, because I can't recall any. I've heard RVP, Fab, Jack say they would like to see more investment in the team, but I can't remember them saying they should target particular players.

Maybe because they're realistic :p

Mind you would have been funny if RvP had come out with an article about how that random Charlton player you signed really wanted to move to Arsenal and had been wanting the move for years and didn't want Charlton to hold him against his will :p

Id laugh my *&& off if sneijder goes to city for tevez in a swap deal. it's really funny because we could have kept tevez ourselves for about the same we paid for berbatov. except one is now worth 40-50 million and the other a dismal 10-15.

Just pointing out as i have done to much abuse that we overpaid for berba due to what can only be described as a management decision disaster. how it may come back to haunt us eh?

That makes no sense. The choice was never to keep Tevez or sign Berbatov. The choice was whether to sign Tevez or not sign Tevez.

The idea that had we signed him he would have scored and played as much as he did at City (something he showed no signs of doing with us) and wouldnt have been the completely disruptive character he has been is very unlikely.

If the choice was between Tevez signing or having Berbatov score the same number of goals in the League last season plus be happy enough to allow the development of Hernandez then i think we we well up on the deal overall. Can you imagine Tevez reaction to being rested for Hernandez?!

Well the signing of berbatov excluded us signing tevez. ive stated this before. no one buys 3x 30 mill strikers. keeping tevez was never going to happen for financial reasons once berbatov was on board. it was a a mutually exclusive deal.

Whether he had played as much as at city isnt an issue. an argentinian 25 or 26 year old striker with those qualities he has always meant he would have a better sell on value 2-4 years afterwards compared to a 30 year old berbatov. it was simply a case of really bad business from your fearless leader im afraid.

+ no one has actually signed Tevez - let alone for £40 - £50m so unless you are planning on paying that much , why dont you just wait and see exactly how much he is worth for 2 seasons before he gets disruptive again (like he did at West Ham and Man Utd before doing it at City)

No single player is more important than the club, and after a single decent season any well-adjusted player should realise that (if it even takes that long), Tevez didnt and good ridance imo (and majority of Man Utd fans too by all accounts)

Was the offer we made to Tevez a figment of my imagination then? Tevez has previous, he never stays at any club longer than 2 years; 2 years at Corinthians, 1 year at West Ham, 2 years at United and probably 2 years at City.

How any United fan in their right mind would still want Tevez is beyond me given what a right little **** he's proved to be over the last 3 years. Besides which City have denied any potential swap deal with them and Inter.

In other news Chelsea have bid 20m for Lukaku, I really want to know who's behind their signings because it cant be the manager, Chelsea have been linked with Lukaku well before AVB came on board.

Lets just say that we didnt make Tevez an offer that he couldnt refuse..

Yes tevez might have cost us more in wages, but his resale value alone being wht, 2-3 times that of berbatov kinda makes that a moot point. At the end of the day, like i said, i would just laugh IF something with sniejder did happen with Tevez...

Everyone was screaming out for a striker after Tevez first season with us as we went into the season with Campbell up front. There was no way anyone would have praised not signing a striker. At THAT point Berbatov was seen as a welcome addition to the squad.

During Tevez second season he first complained about being tired in his first season, then complained about not playing enough during that season. He constantly complained and was quoted as saying "the old man doesnt know what to do with me". On almost a weekly basis there was a story in the papers about his future that seemed to come from the Tevez camp. A trait that hasnt altered since he joined City.

He wanted to be made the highest player at the club and in the league in a deal that would have cost us a £20/30m fee and £150k a week.

That was NEVER a good deal and quoting what he did at City doesnt make that any better of a deal at the time.

When you add in that during his time at City he has been "unsettled", "Homesick", "Missing his family" etc etc, there is little to suggest his permanent signing would have been a success.

Thats without even talking about his **** of an agent/owner/handler/carer, his 2 year life cycle at ever club he has been at and the fact that he is a liar, into account.

Didn't Man City pick the worst time to try and get the actual value for one of their players though? They're happy to let the majority leave for way less than they paid for them, but when it comes to a player who doesn't even want to play for City or live in Manchester they try and dig their heels in?
The wrong time? He is one of the best strikers in the world. Of course we are going to get good money from him. The majority? Bridge, Adebayor, RSC etc? we overpaid in the first place so its hardly a surprise when we will end up with nothing before next season.

LOL sky just said Jo cost City £18m and only he scored 4 goals for them :D
6m, the other 12m was if he did well. Which he clearly did not!

Jol saying he wants a few more signings, and confirmed we are weak upfront (finally?!). Looking forward to seeing who he brings in, we've spent about £3.5m so far on Riise, Gecov and Somogyi..that with about 6-8 players sold/released.
